Police ignoring drug dealers

Recommended Posts

Alcohol is legal.

Yes some people do become alcoholics.

Do you really want to make other substances legally available which can cause addiction ?

Why are other substances other than alcohol necessary ?

So you support alcohol being legal even though you accept people can become addicted to it, but don't want anything else to be legal? Do you understand what you are saying and how ridiculous it is?

So the only basis on which you judge a drug by is whether it's legal or not? And the legality of a drug is decided by politicians. Yet pretty much any scientist who works in that field has repeatedly said that alcohol is the most damaging drug in our society, but you are totally ok with that being legal as following your own logic would be happier if you kid became an alcoholic then a coke addict, yet the alcoholic does more damage to themselves and society than a coke addict. I'm just trying to get you to open your eyes a little and stop repeating the tiresome mantra of illegal drugs are evil and legal ones are good.

Regardless of your opinion of alcohol it is legal and that will not change.

Why make other substances which can cause damage legally available ?

Why are you so attracted to presently illegal drugs?

Would you make alcohol illegal and cocain legal ?

I'll answer in order, unlike you seem to be capable of doing:

Why make other substances which can cause damage legally available ?

Because drugs that are illegal fund other criminality. Making them legal doesn't mean I condone them, it simply means we can monitor their usage, tax them and offer people who do become addicted more help more easily.

Why are you so attracted to presently illegal drugs?

I'm not in anyway attracted to illegal drugs and take none.

Would you make alcohol illegal and cocain legal ?

I'd rather legalise cocaine and keep alcohol legal too, but if the choice was to make booze illegal and cocaine legal, then even though I'd have to give up my beer I think that would be the better option of the 2 for society. I wouldn't start taking coke as a substitute for booze though!

Cigarettes are legal but illegal ones are still available.

As Penistone999 tells us regularly! Not sure of the relevance of that comment though?

I would ban the sale of all tobacco products because of the harm they do.

Would you ?

Ok, so your position is to ban all drugs (except medicine ones I presume?) including alcohol and nicotine based on the harm they do? That's fine. It's a completely different position to mine but at least it's not hypocritical like most who want things they don't use illegal but stuff they do legal without even the hint of irony.

I would not ban alcohol but would police it as in years gone by.

Reintroduce specified opening times.

Police checks in pubs to check for underage drinkers and drunkenness.

Clamp down on public drunkenness.

Only sell alcohol, for home consumption, in off licences.

This is what I don't understand. Why keep alcohol legal but ban cigarettes? Alcohol does more damage than smoking.

I would disagree on the relative damage done.

Tobacco can damage a person's health over a period of time causing dreadful health problems.

Alcohol can cause problems due to drunkenness to the user and others.

Alcohol can cause health problems if used to excess.

Due to the socialising aspects of alcohol being drunk in pubs and causing no harm in most cases I think it will always continue to be drunk.

Smoking is an addictive habit whose only pleasure is relieving the craving.

Yet science and evidence says the exact opposite that alcohol is FAR more harmful than smoker. So based on your answers given in this thread I can assume you don't smoke, but don't drink. It's always so obvious.
