Dear Applicant: You have received a tax refund payment of 962.25GBP from HMRC (HM Revenue & Customs) into your Internet Banking Account. Please accept the tax refund request. The money will appear in your Internet Banking Account after 3-6 days. A refund can be delayed for a variety of reasons. For example submitting invalid records or applying after the deadline. Leah-Lacie Posted March 1, 2013 Share Posted March 1, 2013 Thats definitely a scam. They have your details and would probably contact you by letter anyway. I've actually just gone onto the Yorkshire bank website and it flashed up with a message I know to be a phishing scam - on their actual website! (I got to the site the same way I always do... type YB into Google and it brings up their site address from my last visit) Very weird and quite worrying. It says something like "Dear customer (account number: Undisclosed) Your account security has been compromised and if you do not resolve this by clicking the below link, your account will be closed within 48 hours. RESOLVE NOW." I've seen this on sites before warning that its a scam, you click RESOLVE and are prompted to enter all your account details, so I closed the window and went back onto the site and it was the normal site again. nanoffive Posted March 1, 2013 Share Posted March 1, 2013 Yes, it is a scam, you can always tell if they mention an the amount of money in GBP not £, also if some of the wording doesn't sound quite grammatically correct, a bit stilted.
