A good tattoo is not cheap.A cheap tattoo is not good. Go to a good tattooist and you could pay 90pound an hour but its gunna be there for life so you want the best. Ta for that.  As I have said before, I'm classy. All my tattoos are spelt correctly.  My tats have meaning, they are to commemorate major events in my life, and/ or people who mean the world to me. I did not, do not, and will not regret having them, for a single minute.  They were actually done when I reached "later life" (I wasn't a teenager when they were done) and I do not believe in any way they are either detrimental or have prevented me from doing anything. I am the best person I can be, and the tats make no difference.  As for the "idiot bin man" (sic) that you refer to:- if you go to a poor tattoist, then you'll get poor tattoos. If you pay a fiver for a tat, you'll get "tat". if you pay the going rate, you'll get something decent.  King Edward VII had tattoos. So they are hardly the mark of a "Lowlife". onewheeldave   22 #8 Posted February 23, 2013 (edited) my mother regrets her tatt because it has the name of my father on her left leg. it is vainfully stupid to have tatts because there there for life and stop you from becoming a better version of yoursen in layer life.  only morons have tatts like that idiot bin man  Any decent tattooist will tell you that getting the names of boyfriends/girlfriends is generally a very bad idea (for obvious reasons)  Your mother messed up- she made a mistake: not cos she got a tattoo, but, because she got a stupid tattoo, she didn't think it through, she didn't consider the consequences, and, she certainly didn't do sufficient research (because, if she had, she would know that names of boyfriends/girlfriends are a no-no).  Don't extrapolate from that that everyone who gets a tattoo is going to suffer from it in later life- I know plenty of people who've had tattoos for decades and do not regret them, or suffer from them.  Best way to minimise the chance of later regret, is to research your tattoo, and tattooist, before getting it- get a tattoo that you really want, don't get a stupid tattoo.  Lastly, bear in mind the large number of people who live their lives, get old, and, in contrast, regret things they didn't do- such as not getting that tattoo they always wanted, but never had the courage to actually get it done.  (And, tell your mother that there are good tattooists who specialise in covering up bad/unwanted tattoos with really good ones, that will work with your mother to help her choose a design that she won't regret and that can be a source of pleasure and pride for her).
