master_p
You might as well add this to the long list of disasters the Council seems to love getting involved in. Lets hope nobody gets paid for results in the town hall Sheffield Airport - didn't last long World Student Games - still paying for it, the total cost running into billions Park Hill Flats - 900 flats in a recession? Sevenstone - will we ever see anything happen Markets - at least 15 years to get off the ground Don Valley - potentially demolished within 20 years with another 10 years still left of paying it off St Paul's Tower - turned out nothing like the original design Digital Region Project - losing money Whilst I appreciate some of the above is also to do developers - its not even close to being good enough
alchresearch
You say. Sheffield are being hammered by the tories by massive budget cuts. So how do you explain the continuing development of Leeds and their new arena for one? Or the wonderful sporting facilities of Manchester? Both Labour strongholds. green
So how do you explain the continuing development of Leeds and their new arena for one? Or the wonderful sporting facilities of Manchester? Both Labour strongholds. Sheffields Arena was paid for by the Council (aka local tax payers). Leeds is being funded with Govt revenues. Why wasnt our local Council clever enough to get National funding?

truman
This may seem simplistic but why don't the council sell the unused Woodbourn Road athletics track to help finance the DVS?
Jeffrey Shaw
This may seem simplistic but why don't the council sell the unused Woodbourn Road athletics track to help finance the DVS? Yes, they could unless the terms of any Grants preclude this.
truman
Yes, they could unless the terms of any Grants preclude this. As I said it was a simple question..if it had been as easy as that they would have done it wouldn't they?..Unless there's an ulterior motive in the threat of DVS demolition..(Politicians with motives..who'd think such a thing ? )
