Sheffield United, financially 'Running on empty' says Wilson..

Recommended Posts

I will still attend the lane, season ticket or not LOL a poor responce from a poster trying to deflect from the Owls history of financial shame.

A club built on Hand outs , charity and welching !!

One gets the feeling your getting personal , with a view of getting the thread deleted :) the Owls track record is there for all to see!!

We have been running on empty for many years like around 85 other clubs (look at rangers) Wendesday are skint without MM, even Man U have debts to the owners, Man City spend 147% of their income on wages - so their skint, It all depends on how yu look at things, Wigan skint if it wasnt for the chairman, Bolton Skint,

No football club in this country would trade in a real business world.

SO can we move on

i thinkt he point is UNITED are up the proverbial creek without a paddle, you failed this season, and are losing most of your players, you need to rebuild to succeed next season

IF you dont have the money how do you rebuild to succeed??

With no money, it surely would have been a struggle for you to survive in the Championship had you gone up then ???

It's not the fact that we don't have money it's more of a fact that McCabe has publicly admit that he wants new investment from an external source and would walk from the club if the right buyer came along as he feels he has funded them for long enough which is more than right.

He's getting close to retirement age where he will want to kick off his shoes on some carribean island yet he's still pumping x amount of millions into United to fund the operating of the club as well as helping in strengthening the squad as and where he can.

Once again the McCabes say that money will be made available for new signings before the start of the season which just shows how much he loves the club, he doesn't want to invest money but will as he knows it needs it to get them promoted and make them salable again. McCabe has however refused to sign the cheques and make money available until he knows who will be leaving the club if anyone and how much revenue that generates. Sensible business as we are trying to build a decent squad on a budget which complies with Financial Fair Play rules as well.

We have the money, the Board / Manager have openly announced that money will be made available to improve the squad however they want to see who leaves if anyone before deciding on how much Wilson has to spend.

Back track and contradiction! :hihi:

We have lost nobody and rumours of anyone leaving are yet to be proven true in any way, shape or form. An "average" looking Kevin McDonald as you lot called him post to playing us last season said in an interview with Paul Walker that he has not even received contact from Sheffield Wednesday despite the massive ooh ahh on here from you lot suggesting he is signing for you.

The simple fact is that we need to produce a squad capable of challenging for automatic promotion next year whilst keeping the wage bill low enough to comply with Financial fair play regulations. This will see the sale of high salaried players / out of contract players should new terms not be reached that suit the club that is inevitable. McCabe knows that we need numbers in the squad and strengthening in places and he is giving Wilson the right to do that hence why we have approached players with the view to bringing them into the club. We now have to see who leaves to see what players we need to replace and which areas need extra cover, any money generated from the sale of players may also be needed to generate extra funds for permanent transfers.

Simple business sense.

When McDonald was out injured at the back end of the season Blades fans were saying things along the lines of

"we need him back asap"

"he makes us tick, he's vital"

now wednesday are rumoured to be interested its

"he's average"

"he's good on his day but not consistant"

Here we go throw it back at us, post Sheffield derby last year you lot were going on about how remotely average McDonald looked and how he offered very little and how the way we had been speaking about him you thought he would be at least half decent.

Now the rumors are flying round which at this moment in time are nothing but rumors as McDonald has openly told reporters Wednesday haven't even attempted to contact him or his agent but anyway now you lot suddenly think he might do a job for you. I like McDonald, I think he's a cracking player and have done since he joined the club, he's got a cracking eye for a pass and is more than reliable to both defend and create things in the middle of the park.

The way he speaks he wants to stay at United and wants the club to hurry up and negotiate terms, offloading Monty would make it all a lot quicker.

Blades revival was a club draw with prizes !! a million miles away from rattling cans down fargate! "Blades revival" later replaced by the "super draw" with every penny profit being ploughed in to the academy.

Speedy the term different gravy has never been more suited. Hope your cough gets better.

The sooner we get Monty off the wage bill the money saved from him alone could easily keep McDonald.

Now Evans has gone Monty is the highest paid player at the club!
