Why not this much celebration on St. Georges day??

Recommended Posts

The only proper english people who aren't catholics are who they are because their king wanted sex.

Very true. Otherwise we'd all be nominally Lutherans instead of nominally Episcopalians.

In practice, of course, the vast majority of the English don't go to church at all, except for social occasions.

The EDL aren't aways so intolerant towards foreign culture being imported. For example here's an article about an EDL member who has just got sent down for threatening NHS staff with Asian martial arts weapons;

There will be an enormous celebration of all things English this summer, but it won't be on St. George's Day, since we still aren't a Catholic nation. It will be the Diamond Jubilee; people are being encouraged to organise street parties and all manner of celebratory events.

Funny, I thought Queen Elizabeth II ruled the UK, not England. A similar thing happens during the World Cup, when everyone is expected to support England just because they're attached to it by the ground under their feet. Apart from that, what about people who don't believe in fawning over hereditary monarchs chosen by God to rule? I'm going to stay indoors on that day. With ear plugs. And a blindfold. And a copy of 'Never Mind The B0llocks'.
