gnvqsos
Half of the adult population cannot do maths of primary level. Can you do this simple problem? A person is now paying 5% interest which rises to 7.5%.Calculate the percentage change in interest to one decimal place.

Karis
Is there really anyone that can't work this out? It's the kind of thing you can find the answer by simple deduction!
Leah-Lacie
My daughter is 7, and is starting to learn simple algebra at school now, the type of thing I didn't start until 14, it wouldn't surprise me if a lot of adults can't do what is now 'primary' maths. laineyiow
2%? I am in my 50s and maths has always been the bane of my life. I really struggle with figures. I honestly believe I have the equivalent of dyslexia but with numbers rather than letters.

cgksheff
50.0% Part of the problem is the idiot that insisted on changing something that worked. Basic building blocks of arithmetic are addition, subtraction and times tables. Without those, trying to teach anything else is a waste of time. Children are leaving primary school without those basic skills.
