demeer
A name just jumped into my head for what reasons ??? Moonshine Lane .How did it get its name? From Peter Harvey's book on Sheffield street Names. Moonshine Ln S5 From a area called Moonshine which was shown on Greenwood's 1817 map of Yorkshire, and is mentioned in the 1849 tithe awards. The origin of the name is a mystery. although it is more likely to refer to some geographical feature, it is not entirely impossible that it had something to do with illegal liquor. In this sense the word is usually thought to be modern American but is known to have been used in reference to illicit gin in north Yorkshire in the 1790.s
karl101
There's Corker Bottoms Lane in Manor Park next to Corker Bottoms recreation ground. Perhaps named in memory of Frankie Howerd or Benny Hill? K.
