Mecky   10 #373 Posted November 12, 2010 Don't know why you're all moaning, I could've told you what was going to happen if the conservatives got in power. It won't be the last disturbance and not just from students either; wait until the economic cuts hit home. We're just going to have to get used to it. unuspromulti   10 #377 Posted November 12, 2010 A media arts specialist does not need a degree in media arts before they can work in that industry. A sports worker does not need a degree in sports studies to get a job in the sports industry.  Quite simply some jobs are suited to people starting off at the bottom of the ladder and working their way up. That is the training scheme.  Leave Uni to the professionals and academics.  I love how you specify 2 professions and then go to general industries for your comparison. There's no such job title as a 'media arts specialist' or 'sports worker' so they're not a valid comparison.  There are plenty of jobs that require degrees in the sports industry for instance, you're not going to get very far without a degree as a clinical/exercise/sport biomechanist, dietician, or psychologist are you? Never mind the number of academics that have a sport/exercise background and do research in those areas and others.
 Share this content via...

Waste of time and money imho. Edited November 12, 2010 by willman
 Share this content via...

mj.scuba   10 #380 Posted November 13, 2010 So after all the claims by the goody two shoes peaceful protesters that the violence was down to anarchists, it turns out the person that did the worst thing on the day (threw a fire extinguisher off a high rise building towards the crowd below) IS a student at a Uni in Cambridge. Greybeard   10 #381 Posted November 13, 2010 A degree of Treacherous venal mendacity  Even more so for a Deputy Prime Minister.  It turns out that even though Clegg was still promising to abolish tuition fees in May the policy had secretly been abandoned in March so he could get into bed with the Tories.  This was a promise made specifically to persuade students to vote LibDem, so no surprise that they're a little miffed. Students could then consider the policies prior to voting. He deserves dog poo through his letter box. I'm off to buy a dog
 Share this content via...
Darth Vader   10 #383 Posted November 14, 2010 I wonder how quickly he is going to backtrack on his idea that constituents should be able to recall their MP if they are guilty of wrongdoing.  If he'd got any integrity, he would 'recall' himself, after the fiasco where students were denied their vote. harvey19 Â Â 541 #384 Posted November 14, 2010 My understanding is that they would stick to their pledges on student fees if the gained power. The alternative was proposed if they had to form a coalition with another party who had different views on the matter.
 Share this content via...
