  1. I'm showing some serious ignorance here, but I've never heard of Anthony Gormley or David Hockney. Regards Doom
  2. Who is it? David Cameron suggested it was William Hague, I'd have to disagree. My pick would be Sir Geoffrey Boycott. Regards Doom
  3. I partly agree with this, but the cynic in me also thinks the old stadium was allowed to fail so that the Council could put forward a case for knocking it down and redeveloping the site. Regards Doom
  4. I still use my milkman in High Green. I've no idea how much it costs a pint, although I'm sure it will be a lot more than the Supermarkets, but it's a price worth paying to maintain a good old tradition and have it there waiting for me on the step in the morning. Regards Doom
  5. This made me chuckle: Following Arron Brook's donation of £1 million, UKIP's Party Treasurer Andrew Reid has written an Open Letter to The Rt Hon William Hague MP which can be read below: The millionaire businessman Arron Banks had originally decided to donate £100,000 to UKIP but following Mr Hague's intervention this morning he increased it to £1 million. Mr Banks said: "I woke up this morning intending to donate £100,000 to Ukip and I understand Mr Hague called me a nobody. "So, in light of that and in view that I am a strong advocate of leaving the European Union, I have decided today to donate £1 million to the party and not the £100,000 we originally agreed." 6. We'll probably be there late Saturday afternoon (between 4 and 5), so if anyone is in at that time feel free to come over and say hello (we'll be carrying ice hockey shirts). I'm liking the look of the Old Freddy Walker, I've had it 3 or 4 times and always enjoyed it. I'm surprised to see it listed as an old ale though, because I've seen it down as a porter in the past. I'm also tempted by the Grateful Deaf......HOPS!!! Regards Doom
  7. It's a wait and see for me. If they can pull it off and get the funding it would be great, as long as there isn't a prolonged drain on the Council's purse strings to fund the running of the facilities. As someone who works in the Construction sector....The more building work the better as far as I'm concerned. Regards Doom
  8. Cameron is a good speaker, but so is Harry Redknapp and I certainly wouldn't want him running the country. It's easy to promise people things they want, like a reduction in Immigration, but Cameron fell so short on his targets on that front he's now in need of snookers. http://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/politics/uk-immigration-numbers-up-by-68000-in-a-year-despite-david-camerons-pledge-to-cut-migration-levels-by-the-next-general-election-9696156.html For many people, myself included, immigration is the number one priority at the next General Election and whilst ever David Cameron keeps us in the EU he won't be able to get it under control. A Tory Government will mean increased immigration and more situations like Page Hall and Hexthorpe. His party members know he can't deliver and that's why some of them are now defecting to UKIP. Here are the UKIP comments on Cameron's speech: Regards Doom
  9. What We Stand For UKIP is a patriotic party that promotes independence: from the EU, and from government interference. We believe in free trade, lower taxes, personal freedom and responsibility. UKIP believes in Britain becoming a democratic, self-governing country once again. This can only be achieved by getting our nation out of the European Union and reasserting the sovereignty of Parliament. As a party we are unashamedly patriotic: we believe there is so much to be proud about Britain and the contribution it has made to the world. We believe that Britain is good enough to be an independent nation, trading and building harmonious relations with the rest of the world. We believe Britain must get back control over its borders, so that it can welcome people with a positive contribution to make while limiting the overall numbers of migrants and keeping out those without the skills or aptitudes to be of benefit to the nation. UKIP believes in promoting self-reliance and personal freedom from state interference. We believe the state in Britain has become too large, too expensive and too dominant over civil society. Return Power to the UK • A vote for UKIP is a vote to leave the EU and recover power over our national life. • Free trade, but not political union, with our European neighbours. We are the EU’s largest export market: they depend on us for jobs - not the other way around. • Binding local and national referenda, at the public’s request, on major issues. Protect Our Borders • Regain control of our borders and of immigration - only possible by leaving the EU. • Immigrants must financially support themselves and their dependents for 5 years. This means private health insurance (except emergency medical care), private education and private housing - they should pay into the pot before they take out of it. • A points-based visa system and time-limited work permits. • Proof of private health insurance must be a precondition for immigrants and tourists to enter the UK. Rebuild Prosperity • Save £55m a day in membership fees by leaving the EU and give British workers first crack at the 800,000 jobs we currently advertise to EU workers. • No tax on the minimum wage. • Enrol unemployed welfare claimants onto community schemes or retraining workfare programmes. • Scrap HS2, all green taxes and wind turbine subsidies. • Develop shale gas to reduce energy bills and free us from dependence on foreign oil and gas - place the tax revenues into a British Sovereign Wealth Fund. • UKIP will abolish inheritance tax. Inheritance tax brings in under £4bn - less than a third of what we spend on foreign aid. The super-rich avoid it, while modest property owners get caught by it. It hits people during a time of grief and UKIP will budget in its 2015 spending plans to completely abolish this unfair death tax. • Make cuts to foreign aid that are real and rigorous. Safeguard Against Crime • No cuts to front line policing. • Make sentences mean what they say. • No votes for prisoners - that’s what losing your liberty means. • Prevent foreign criminals entering the UK - by re-introducing border controls that the EU forced us to abandon. • Scrap the European Arrest Warrant, which sends British citizens to foreign jails without evidence, just to answer questions - replace it with a proper extradition system. • Remove the UK from the jurisdiction of the European Court of Human Rights. Care And Support For All • Open GP surgeries in the evening, for full-time workers, where there is demand. • Locally-elected County Health Boards to inspect hospitals - to avoid another Stafford Hospital crisis. • Prioritise social housing for people whose parents and grandparents were born locally. • Allow the creation of new grammar schools. • Make welfare a safety net for the needy, not a bed for the lazy. Benefits only available to those who have lived here for over 5 years. Free Speech and Democracy • No to Political Correctness - it stifles free speech. • The law of the land must apply to us all. We oppose any other system of law. • Teach children positive messages and pride in their country. We want to unite through better integration. UKIP is a patriotic party that believes in putting Britain first. Only UKIP will return self-government to the British people. That's taken from the UKIP website. I wouldn't call those goals extreme. People may not agree with them (I don't agree with them all), just like they won't agree with certain policies of all the parties, but they're certainly not extreme. Regards Doom
  10. The Commercial in Chapeltown would fall into that bracket. http://thecommie.co.uk/ Regards Doom
  11. No they're not. There maybe some supporters with extreme views, just like there will be supporters of Labour and Conservatives with extreme views. You constantly try and use extremes to make your point. You've become the boy who cried 'wolf', because the day when you do have a valid point, nobody will take you seriously. Regards Doom
  12. You do like to use extremes. Regards Doom ---------- Post added 01-10-2014 at 08:26 ---------- Looking at photos of Boris I would say he's the one who looks like he's been getting up close and personal with a Vacuum Cleaner. Regards Doom
  13. More good news for UKIP: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-29438653 Parties need to finance their campaigns. Regards Doom
  14. He'd probably find reason to accuse him of being a Nazi. Regards Doom
  15. I seem to have hit a raw nerve. If he's standing under the UKP banner then the electorate will be voting for a UKIP man if they put a cross at the side of his name. Regards Doom
  16. If you want a fairly safe political bet, why not try the Clacton By-election, although you'll only get odds of 1/33 on UKIP winning, so you'll need to put plenty on to make it worthwhile. Regards Doom
  17. That sounds right up my street.....I think it will be halves for me. Regards Doom
  18. Haha.....that's what comes of rushing a post before shooting out of the door. Amazingly for me I managed to correct it on the bus with my phone, although I wasn't singing any Peppa Pig songs because my driver was Asian. Regards Doom
  19. Another good day at the office for the supporters of UKIP. Clearly the Tory defectors see them as a party who are here to stay, otherwise they wouldn't have jumped ship. The momentum is definitely with UKIP at the moment, hopefully that will continue with the up and coming by-elections. Regards Doom
  20. Assuming this is factual, then I'd say Mr Cole has been very brave and shouldn't feel any shame at all. He's been persistent in trying to report the issue, but others have ignored his pleas for help......They are the ones who should feel shame. Regards Doom
  21. This story was mentioned on the Toby Foster show yesterday morning, although I think Toby got the story from the Rotherham Advertiser. I must admit at the time I couldn't understand why anybody would find the Peppa Pig song offensive, but I'd not made the link between pork and Muslims. If the story is exactly as it's been told then this is ridiculous and the driver should hang his head in shame, as should the woman who kicked up a fuss. Regards Doom
  22. Goodness me, do people never learn? The whole reason this issue has spiralled out of control is because people brushed it under the carpet and were unwilling to talk about it and deal with it. Now you’re suggesting UKIP should do exactly the same. If political gain is to be made out of this there’s only one party to blame and that’s not UKIP. Blame the party whose systems failed. Blame the party who created a climate of politically correct fear so that people were unwilling to deal with issues like this for fear of upsetting the ethnic minorities and being branded a racist. Whilst I can understand why Labour supporters would want to divert attention from this scandal, it is an important political issue and the failures should be discussed by all the political parties, including UKIP. Regards Doom
  23. How they got out of their match with a draw I will never know. Great drama and entertainment though. Regards Doom
