I was in the Royal Signals in a little different time situation according to your statistics, I was with signal personnel exclusively in my camp. While everybody seems to give Moascar as the address, Moascar was a small town approximately 10 to 20 miles away. He would have been in a different camp in a different situation and in a different area to me, the whereabouts? I have no idea. Short of finding websites with more information related to your needs, good luck in your quest and endeavours.

Hi all = While on the subject of tobacco does anybody know if they still make the cigarillo's, (you can't call them cigars,) I think the name was 'Old Port', I think they were sold in a packet of five, obviously they were bigger than a normal cigarette and a little fatter and you've guessed it, they had a taste of wine? fleetwood

Hi all - Who remembers Kensitas cigs? Didn't they have a packet of four attached to the main packet, which said 'Four for your friends'? The main thing though was the 'Silk Flags' or I should say a white silk with an international flag emblazoned on, this was in a cellophane wrapper inside. At the time some manufactures had cigarette cards, they had the 'Flags' on silk. fleetwood

Hi gramps48 - After checking into Lac La Hache it sounds a great area to retire to with all the recreational activities that seems to be plentiful in that area. Located 482 km northeast of Vancouver in the Cariboo region of British Columbia. If you want any more information on it just google Lac La Hache and you get its proximity to other towns as a map should appear and you'll get a better understanding of the whys and wherefores of the area. fleetwood

I never said I was a fan of the music but it did lead to musicians gravitating to other genres and becoming quite good in their chosen type. I did enjoy the book though. Your notes (ha ha) on the other book on Julie London I thought I had covered because I had read the book, perhaps you might want to read my post in that regard. Just read a great book by Billy Bragg 'Roots, Radicals and Rockers. 'How Skiffle Changed the World', it kind of started when Ken Colyer brought some turn of the century jazz recordings back from the States in the early forties. Now cut to Chris Barber and Lonnie Donnegan and their interpretation and the rest is history, soon groups by the hundreds were soon copying and playing, some better than others obviously. The book is British and current, incidentally the author Billy Bragg was mentioned on another thread related to the students union concert where he might have entertained. The book is worth a read because it is well written, enjoy! fleetwood

I think people forget that Middlewood Hospital was at some point A Military Hosp. When I was doing my conscription I was taken ill while on leave and was admitted there on doctors orders, I also remember an officer coming with my pay. It seems to me the Military aspect of it dates way back, maybe first world war and beyond. fleetwood
