  1. Overshadowed us for years?!? Which years were these? League & cup adventures Oh behave! You had a very credible promotion year in 2005, and that was about it? You can't really count the Prem year as it ended in relegation. So, the 'overshadowing' you claim was that one promotion year, I'll give you that, well done. As for the rest I'd say it was pretty even as both have achieved very little. The past 4 years you've steadily dropped quite a way behind us, and as things stand, dropping further behind day by day. As for still celebrating our last domestic cup win at Wembley, yes, it's something we have fond memories about. You lot could do the same...if you can still find someone living who witnessed it
  2. Agreed. Had a conversation with a Blade yesterday and he was going on about our last 15 'wilderness years'. I asked him what United had achieved in those very same years apart from a very poor one relegation season in Prem? He was a bit stuck for answers bless him But there's the difference in mentally, we've had one of our worst times in our history and they seem to think they've "done ok", but when it comes down to it there's not been much between us since 2000. But, yet again, the cream is rising to the top
  3. Preston, 5,500 travelling over... Now in years gone by, when on a run and a huge away following gathers you could bet we'd stuff it up, so, this is a good chance for us to bury that old saying of 'Typical Wednesday'
  4. You don't annoy me brother, it's all about opinions. Some opinions can be a little tedious and childish tinged with a hint of bitterness, but that's because it's a football rivalry of which one team or the other will always try and get one over on the other side. Rather that than be a one team city
  5. Nice to see some are still around Childish comments will always happen on these kind of forums, par for the course! Now I think I've done this the wrong way around... I left the forum when we started improving but was around for all the crap
  6. Hey Potty! All good thanks, just thought I'd pop along and impart some wisdom Where have all the Blades gone?
  7. Indeed. But, football is all about who has the money. If you want to get ahead you have to spend big money. I'm a bit of a purist, and when Chelsea and Man City win things it's just because they have money, no other reason. So what's the answer? Don't spend and flounder, or splash the cash and thrive (hopefully!) It's the way of the modern football world, but not a football world I'm fond of in all honesty
  8. No, wrong again. I never expected to get promoted this season, and if I'm honest I'm as surprised as anyone how it's going. I thought a mid table finish was on the cards, but a play off place for me is seen as a bonus. If we don't go up and spend in the summer and then don't go up next season, then I'd agree with you on that being a failure
  9. Now you're sounding bitter. You can have as much money as you want, but buying a team full of individuals rarely works, but spending a decent amount on players that to be honest none of us had really heard of and getting them to play as a team does take a modicum of skill.
  10. But you have copied this! What have you achieved in the past 15 years while we have been outside the PL? Not a lot apart from one season in big league and a couple of cup semi's? I'm not having a dig, it's just that in all honesty you haven't faired much better than we have and this has been one of our worst runs in almost 150 years
  11. No, I doubt it very much. Unless something dramatic happens ownership wise at the lane I think your Premier days are over. There's no light at the end of your tunnel I'm afraid, and it's getting darker with every passing season down there. By the way, the above comment about going back 10 years was tongue in cheek
  12. Bang on Corks! I don't get on here much these days, where have all the Blades gone???
  13. I don't think we've "bottled" anything. We've not been in a position to bottle it. One play off run in 2005 and won it. It's been a very poor 15 years, but I've been watching Wednesday since 1975/76 and believe me, many a time I've seen us grab defeat from the jaws of victory, but this new set up is something different, and at the moment it's working.
  14. If that's the case you'd be in the Premiership
  15. Remember going to the old Shrewsbury ground (Gay Meadow) back in 1987. League Cup game, if memory serves me right it finished 1-1.
  16. Not sure if I'm going to make it Tuesday. No ST for me this year and 3 home games in a week has just bit a little deep in the pocket. Always want to be there and very rarely miss, but sometimes other things financially have to come first
  17. Middlesbrough 3 v 0 Rotherham United Sheffield Weds 1 v 1 Brighton Coventry City 2 v 0 Barnsley Bradford City 0 v 0 Blackpool Brentford 1 v 0 Hull City Leeds Utd 1 v 2 Cariff City
  18. My first week and 8pts...It's in the bag!
  19. Agreed mate! Couple of changes, but no real detriment to the side. A bit too direct in first half but all good, another 3 points and onto the test of the season on Tuesday against unbeaten Brighton! As for the other lot...I have no words!
  20. Hey L, How's things? As you know I don't come on here much these days, I saw the thread and thought I'd just have a bash for fun.
  21. Derby County 3 v 0 Rotherham United Sheffield Weds 0 v 0 Notts Forest Crewe Alex 0 v 1 Sheffield Utd Doncaster Rovers 2 v 2 Colchester Utd Fleetwood Town 1 v 1 Chesterfield Scunthorpe Utd 1 v 0 Barnsley
  22. Cheers Rossy mate! Hope all's well in RR's World
