  1. Has anybody else been hit with the recent eBay new policy of forcing certain items to be offered with free post and packing? Just encountered this tonight A complete pain. Okay, I know some sellers took the proverbial, but people with sense avoided those sellers anyway. You generally knew roughly how much an item would cost to post, especially if you'd sold things yourself, so if somebody was charging £20 to post a button you knew there was something not quite right. But forcing it to be free P&P is surely taking things too far. Wouldn't it have made more sense to limit the post and packing charges to something more realistic rather than setting them at nothing!? I noticed they'd done this with a few categories already, unless those have already switched to the free P&P as well. Stuff like this just convinces me more and more that eBay don't want small/casual sellers and are only interested in businesses - and there's already loads of those online
  2. Depends on their age probably as they might not understand the offensive potential if they're under a certain age. This thread did make me think of my son, who is the only person whose head I pat. Sometimes he will accept it, other times he will scream at the top of his voice "Mummy, NO!" and shove my hand away, so if he doesn't want me to do it, he's not shy about saying so!
  3. I like both equally. They're good in different ways. I love Paul Merton on HIGNFY, especially when he goes all surreal.
  4. Lisa looked like she had good potential when she first went in but I've gone right off her. I also quite like Tory Boy and wouldn't mind if he won.
  5. Coach companies used to do trips to Alton Towers and other theme parks, but they don't seem to do them as much these days. Other than getting a coach/train to staffs then getting a bus/taxi, car does seem to be the easiest option. You say that it's not an option for you - is that because the adults going can't drive or because you don't have a car? If you can drive, perhaps hiring a car for the day would be a solution..?
  6. I think kids will learn that certain things are boring/less fun/less desirable that others whether they do it at school or not. Having to sit down during travel is extremely boring for a young child and most will do that at some point. Having to help put their toys away at bedtime, when they'd much rather carry on playing and not go to bed. Mild examples to adults I know, but from a child's point of view much worse, and they're learning that alongside the "fun stuff" there is also the "boring stuff" and the responsibility.
  7. The woodlands, some gorgeous walks to be had. And the trams.
  8. Haven't had chance to read the full thing yet, but it doesn't sound good. My son's just started meeting other HE parents and children and is enjoying it. I'd read stuff before about HE being under threat, and it does seem to me that they don't want people doing this, they'd much rather all kids were under their regime I hope this doesn't escalate, I really do. I really want my son to continue his learning as it is at the moment.
  9. Some people are supposedly 'sensitive' to such things, which is why they see/experience stuff that other don't. Apparently. I have seen/experienced nothing. And that is the way I want it to stay
  10. I wouldn't because I'm likely to move again at some point. Don't some posh old estates bury family within the grounds? Now, enemies....I'd happily bury some of those in the back garden in unmarked graves. If it was legal....
  11. In my shed there is a human sized rat trap with a slice of black pudding in the middle of it. Also a harpoon and a giant extra strength net. Anyway, BennyBenn, that's NOT a shed!
  12. I don't know how many pairs of shoes I've got. I've never thought to count them! I have a few pairs of boots and a few pairs of shoes. Probably about ten pairs altogether. I'm not mad on shoe shopping, I only usually get some if I need them. My shoes have fallen to bits before I've replaced them cos once they're comfy I wear them all the time until I have no choice but to get new ones I don't own any high heels and never have. I can't understand why anybody would choose to wear them
  13. My psycho cat has broken my DS. I wondered if anybody had one of the new DSi consoles. Are they worth forking out the extra for or should I just go for a DS Lite? I did have the original version DS so either would be new to me. I don't want to pay loads of money if the new features aren't up to much. Any advice, anybody? TIA
  14. One cat does not a cat woman make Anyway, there will be the cow to disarm as well.
  15. I'll see your cow and raise you one cat!
  16. Best thing to do is go down some stairs. Apparently cows can't go downstairs.
  17. I think some people don't vote because they don't believe that whatever is on offer will actually be on offer once that party is elected. People don't trust them.
  18. I won't have a bike because you have to use the road (rather than the path) with one and I think it's way too dangerous driving on the road. If there were more cycle paths then there would be no argument between vehicle drivers and cyclists, and perhaps some people would be more inclined to use bikes, as I would. By the way, Benny, don't you qualify to road tax exemption?
  19. I could. If I had to, I would. Even most people who think they couldn't would find ways if they had to. It would make journey's harder, longer and much less convenient, but it'd still be doable. I wouldn't want to, as my family live a long way away and without a car I couldn't see them as regularly. So, whilst I could cope without a car, I wouldn't want to. If it wasn't for the family thing though I think I could happily give up the car. I mainly use it for the purpose above or I would have given it up by now. There are good transport links by me (trams - I don't do buses) and I love walking too.
  20. I think he's saying "there's a restraining order and this is as close as you'll ever get to me"
  21. I think you should put both hands up I, on the other hand, am practically mute.
  22. No you didn't. I just clarified in case people thought I was saying all victims go on to become abusers. I know that isn't true.
