I was very pleased when i heard about this AVG CD as i thought it'd provide a simple solution to friends and relatives asking me to come and sort their PC out (which is invariably infested with viruses). Just give them the disc and tell them to put it in whenever they run into bother... Alas, i forgot that unless their PC is set to try and boot from CD before the HDD, then they'll have to mess around with BIOS settings which is, of course, too complicated for them...

No, i don't use Firebug on the Mac at home and have no probs. Maybe we have a culprit? I'll have to try Firefox without Firebug at work for a bit and see how it goes...

I don't feel guilty about making use of software that is provided for free. Why should you? If you find it useful, use it a lot and feel that you should be paying for it then make a donation to the author(s). I'm sure most open-source or freeware software makers would love to get more donations! TBH, i thought this topic was going to be about guilt over piracy... and i would suspect that most people who do pirate software/films/music don't feel guilty in the slightest.

None of those on my Windows machine at work. Just Firebug and WindowResizer, from memory.

I've been a fan of Firefox since... well, since well-before it was called Firefox but i too am getting tired of it on Windows. Ended up trying Chrome and stuck with it. Would persist with Firefox if Chrome didn't exist though, and still use Firefox on the Mac which doesn't seem so "doddery".

Yeah, it was a goodie. No longer under development though. Available for nostalgia more than anything i suspect. I use Apple Mail and Firefox as default on my Mac. Apple Mail is fine for my needs - and i especially love the instant search results thanks to spotlight. I would probably use Safari as default browser BUT i can't stand its form- and password-saving. I want my browser to remember my usernames but not my passwords. Firefox does this, whereas Safari wants all or nothing. Looking forward to trying Google's Chrome when it finally comes to OSX. Also need to give the new version of Camino a proper trial. (BTW, i use Thunderbird and Chrome at work on Windows PC. Again, i find Thunderbird fine for my needs but do miss the searchability.)

second vote for PING if you want a free cloning solution. quite simple to use, though maybe a little scary for novices. alternatively, Cobian Backup?

Yep. I've always been interested in Linux but trying it nowadays is A LOT easier than years ago. Installing it was a nightmare for "newbies".

What caused the problem in the first place? Spilt a drink on it? If so, then it may be a bigger problem than the keyboard unit itself.

Thanks for the suggestions chaps. Anyone know of anyone else that has successfully taken the "legal" approach? IE: giving MS hell about the XBOX not being "fit for purpose". Also, how much is a brand new vanilla xbox these days? Is THIS a decent price, or are they cheaper elsewhere? .

Not bought a great deal, no. I do try to keep up with things (though definitely not as much as some people) and can't say i've seen all that much that appealed. Maybe so... [sniff] Mirror's Edge - Bought it. OK but not compelling. Dead Space - No idea about that. Spore - Looked very interesting. Did that come out for XBOX360 though? Skate - Ignored it. Assumed it was more Tony Hawkes stuff. Was that not the case? What other ground-breaking stuff was there? They can't expect everyone to buy every game they release. Likewise, i can't afford to buy every "creative" game - so i have to wait for ones that really appeal.

Won't they just say "it displayed no signs of RROD" and send it back, and charge me for the postage? It hasn't been opened, but i thought they only did FREE repairs on machines under 3 years old that are suffering E74 or RROD. Mine is only 18 months old (well, 2 years by date of manufacture) and showing E73. .

Gah, i knew i should've given this thread a better title. It's not interesting enough to attract attention. Maybe i should've gone with "ALL GAMERS ARE VIRGINS!". Or is it just that no-one can help out? Thought Ghozer, at least, might have some input...
