  1. Never mind, Chennels would be too good for you
  2. Talk about stereotyping And yeah, lets have more like 'spoons, Lava Lounge and Bungalows and Bears all over the place.
  3. Prohibition, The Living Room, Browns, Slug and Lettuce, Firefly, Tiger Tiger. Pity you have to travel 35 or so miles to get to them.
  4. Today, I was in Leeds, and ventured into Browns, The Living Room, Slug and Lettuce and Prohibition. Why oh why does Sheffield lack elegant places like these where you can have a drink and not see the usual chavs and shaved heads brigade? Places like these also exist in Manchester, Liverpool and Nottingham, so is Sheffield such a dire and backward place that it doesn't deserve places like these?
  5. Well, there it is. England have lost by 8 wickets.
  6. Happy Birthday, pity there aren't too many birthday presents out on the cricket pitch. Aussies 219 for 2.
  7. Aussies 213-2, need only another 30 to win off 12 overs.
  8. 1. The bombing WON'T stop. 2. The Islamists will regroup and plan more atrocities. 3. The terrorists will claim victory and gain more recruits by spreading around the message of how **** weak and gutless we are here in the West.
  9. And worse still, Kevin Pietersen's got a cracked rib and will be out for the rest of the series. And the Aussies are now 177 for 2
  10. Australia 162-2 off 28 overs - only need another 81 to win off 22 overs
  11. Ill have to admit that anyone who lets Graeme Smith score 277 and 259 in consecutive Test matches, with the runs that will naturally come for the rest of the team, isn't a good captain for me.
  12. And wasn't Australia's score of 221 for 5 off 20 overs an example of Vaughan's leadership. Yes, he's an improvement on Flintoff, but that doesn't make him a great captain. He has little tactical nous himself, especially when two batsmen get set and start to put on a few runs, and has a tendency to wait for things to happen rather than trying to make them happen a la Brearley or Illingworth.
  13. Still, Liverpool supporters and their team must hardly be in the best frame of mind to face Ronaldinho, Eto'o, Inestia and Co. One thing we can be sure of: these last few days have certainly plunged the whole of the city of Liverpool into mourning - those two defeats against Arsenal, not forgetting Everton's Cup trouncing against Blackburn.
  14. So Liverpool conceded six at Anfield tonight against Arsenal. This certainly had me thumbing through the record books as to when the last time Liverpool conceded six or more goals in a match. Two snippets of information came up - their biggest defeats were: 0-8 v Huddersfield in 1935 and 1-9 v Birmingham City on 11 December 1954 in Football League Division Two, both away - but when did they last concede six at Anfield?
  15. It gets worse. England have taken their Ashes form into the one dayers and have been thrashed by 77 runs in the 20-20 match. Australia hit a world record 221-5 off 20 overs, and England finished on 144-9 after being 78-6. And the bowling figures were - as you've guessed, shocking. Anderson went for 64, yes 64 from 4 overs !!!!
  16. And to think idiots like that are Britain's and Sheffield's future
  17. There's nothing sinister about the brain drain. It is real. Sheffield IS lacking in opportunities as regards jobs, especially jobs with real career pathways. A former colleague of mine has stated his intention to move down to Nottingham to stay with relatives because of dire opportunities in Sheffield. He obviously thinks he might have a much better chance there, and one look at any jobsite reveals far more vacancies in Nottingham than in Sheffield. Its no use trying to pretend out of sentimentality that Sheffield is better than Leeds or Nottingham for job opportunities. It isn't. It is way way way behind either city. Painful it is to admit this - the bullet has to be bitten by admitting the truth. And at the end of the day, hostility towards Leeds and Nottingham on these forums seems to be based on envy more than anything else.
  18. It seems carcrash got it in one on post #566
  19. Breaking News!!!!! 11 Ashes Arrests in Sydney
  20. Unfortunately, England have ended the day on 114 for 5, only 12 runs in front. Whitewash, here we come.
  21. Shias under Sadr have been troublesome, but the vast majority of Coalition deaths inflicted upon us have been carried out by the Sunnis - Al Qaeda in Iraq for example. The main reason why we didn't destroy the terrorists was down to political correctness. How can you expect soldiers to want to fight when they'll end up facing a jury if they dare kill a terrorist? This PC nonsense is no way to fight. What do you think would have happened in World War II if our troops back then had the same rules of engagement as in Iraq? Simple! We would have lost. And if we had lost 65 or 67 years ago, where would we be today? Probably worked to death in Auschwitz-Birkenau. It is obviously time to ditch politically correct rules of engagement and take a leaf out of the Ethiopians book - and I notice that they've been rather more successful in Somalia than what the US were back in 1998, and what Coalition forces are now in Iraq. I wonder why? Perhaps not being hampered by political correctness has a lot to do with it.
  22. This has been a highly inauspicious Christmas and start to the New Year for Barnsley. Defeats against Sheffield Wednesday and Wolves, coupled with Hull beating Burnley and surprisingly Sheffield Wednesday at Hillsborough, have now dumped Barnsley into the bottom three. Likewise QPR beating Colchester and Leeds beating Coventry hasn't helped the Tykes. So are Barnsley heading back to Division One and perhaps swapping places with Doncaster Rovers and Scunthorpe?
  23. Throw in Bradley Wright-Phillips and that'll be six.
  24. Lehmann's retired from cricket anyway. And you can bet that Warne and McGrath will have ready-made replacements, as will Langer, Hayden, Gilchrist etc.
