  1. Around here, Channel 5 is crap on terrestrial, that is why we watch it through cable (usually when its showing football).
  2. I can just imagine the Sheffield edition: The Moor - £10; Wicker - 50p; and Park Hill Flats 5p, with a hotel there £5. And we can imagine the motor car playing piece minus its wheels
  3. Perhaps its about time this line was put to good use, like incorporating it into the existing Supertram network. Stations like Wadsley Bridge, Oughtibridge, Deepcar could be brought back into use and a halt at Stocksbridge.
  4. Something not on that list which works with Vista is Microsoft Office 2000 Professional - I know - I've got a Windows Vista computer which I installed Office 2000 Professional on. But something on that list which doesn't work with Vista Premium is the Encyclopaedia Britannica 2007 Deluxe Edition.
  5. For those trying to install the Encyclopaedia Britannica 2007 Deluxe Edition CDs on Windows Vista Premium, there's one problem - it won't install on this version of Windows. Not even with antivirus disabled. After inserting the installation CD (CD 1), you type in the user key, and towards the end of installing the first disk, a dialog box appears with the wording "Installation failed while copying fiiles. Check log for details. Please reinstall the application". No matter how often you try to reinstall, you will get that same dialog box, and at the end of the fourth disc, the files will install, but the program will not activate because of errors. Is this just my machine, or is this the way Britannica is with Windows Vista Premium.
  6. True. In Leeds it is a good 35 nightclubs, and as for the late bars - well over 100 (I think at least 92 late licences were handed out there in 2002). Leeds is miles ahead of Sheffield in virtually every aspect - the number and quality of bars, shops, restaurants etc. Sheffield has such a lot of catching up to do.
  7. So why is Islam producing suicide bombers galore. Oh almost forgot. Suicide is permissible if it is used to blow up innocent infidels (and infidel can mean the 'other' type of Muslim), because if he blows himself up and kills infidels at the same time, he will have died as a 'holy warrior'.
  8. Do you know who their spiritual leader is? None other than Abu Bakar Bashir, the leader of Jemaah islamiyah. It is HE who got 15 months - far below the 30 initially sentenced to.
  9. Now have a good read of this article. The religion of peace indeed: http://www.frontpagemag.com/Articles/ReadArticle.asp?ID=26769
  10. Hiis religion has EVERYTHING to do with it. Like Bin Laden, Zawahiri, the Taliban etc, he is the most pious of Muslims. Islam is misogynistic amongst all its other crimes against human decency. The Taliban used to kill women for showing 10 centimetres of bare flesh in Taliban Afghanistan. This is all part and parcel of the Muslim belief that women are inferior, and this reveals what they think of women who rise in status. Back in the 1990/91 Gulf War, Saudi officials were flabbergasted to see men in the US Armed Forces take orders from a woman.
  11. Will he get hanged? Did those who carried out the Bali atrocity get hanged? Their leader got 30 months, later cut to 15 months - for 202 murders!!!! or one month for every 13 slaughtered in cold blood. We are talking here about a religion which hangs 16 year old girls for having sharp tongues, and promotes the slaughter of non-Muslims. And according to the supremacist ideology of Islam, one Muslim is worth 2 Christians, 4 Jews, and 8 polytheists (which they regard Hindus, Buddhists, Sikhs etc as), and as one Muslim man is worth two women, it can be safely said that they regard one Muslim man as to be the equal of 4 Christian, 8 Jewish and 16 Hindu women. And do you know how hatred of the Westerners is promoted in the Arab, Iranian and Pakistani media. Do you know that a fat slob Egyptian pop star made a pop video glorifying the 911 atrocity and blamed Jews for it, just as they blame Jews for every terrorist atrocity carried out in the West. And at the end of the day, it is time people in Britain and throughout the Western world studied the history of Islam, its conquests, its treatment of women and non-Muslim minorities in Muslim countries, the hated poll tax that non-Muslims have to pay in many Muslim countries, the clothes they have to wear which marks them out as non-Muslims, and the hateful texts of the Koran, Sira and hadith, the principles of abrogation where a verse gets overriden by another that has been deemed 'an improvement' - and remember the verses that call for Jihad (from the Medinan era where Islam has become strong) override the so-called peaceful ones from the Meccan era where Islam was weak, and the word 'peace' means something different to a Muslim than what it does for a non-Muslim, because whilst peace means no war to a non-Muslim, peace to a Muslim refers to a world conquered by Islam, where no other religion exists. And did you know that non-Muslim minorities in Muslim countries aren't even allowed to ride a horse (they can only ride a donkey)? And rape victims in Muslim countries have to produce four male witnesses to escape punishment for being the victim. And this could have been the way of life in Britain, France, Spain etc but for a few things: Charles Martel's victories at Tours and Poitiers in 732, the Reconquista in Spain (722 - 1492), the victories of Graf von Salm and Jan Sobieski at the Siege and Battles of Vienna (1529 and 1683). And these things DO rankle in the minds of Muslims, and one tenet of Islam is that "Once a land is gained, it is forever Muslim, and if it is lost it should be returned to dar al Islam - the House of Islam". This is the reason why the Arabs want Israel destroying - because it is former Muslim land (and was obviously Jewish before then) - and if Israel falls - look for them demanding the return of al-Andalus (their name for Spain - not Andalusia), and all former Ottoman lands - Greece, Serbia, Bulgaria, Romania, Armenia etc.
  12. I know what you mean. Leeds gets famous worldwide chains, like the latest offering Nicky Clarke hair stylists, Harvey Nicks, Vidal Sassoon, Borders, Louis Vuitton etc - things you will never see in Sheffield. And Sheffielders have the nerve to brand Loiners as pretentious.
  13. As an earlier poster said, these who carried out this crime are of no benefit to society whatsoever. They should be caned mercilessly (around 30 lashes Singapore-style), and if their parents object - its also time to cane their parents as well for being scum and for bringing up scum.
  14. He also forgot that Sheff Utd will probably survive - they are 10 points clear of West Ham, with a better goal difference as well.
  15. I've got to admit, there aren't too many attractive buildings up at the University or on the even numbers side of Glossop Road (apart from those Regency houses). And I reckon, for all of that, the Information Commons is one of the better looking buildings (it still doesn't mean its attractive, though).
  16. Absolute rubbish. The number of kids living in poverty QUADRUPLED under the Tories. And to add insult to injury, this is what the Tories set out to do. Soaring unemployment led to soaring child poverty. Thanks to Thatcher and Major, kids saw their future in the shape of their unemployed parents. And the Tories didn't give a damn about those who they'd pushed into poverty. They opposed a national minimum wage, as did the Liberal Democrats. Worse still, the Tories tried to scaremonger over the national minimum wage, telling us that it would put an extra two million onto the dole queue. Were the Tories still in office after 28 years, there would still be job vacancies advertised in the Jobcentre offering £2.50 an hour, in the spirit of one of their 2001 General Election candidates who once boasted of paying his workers 88p an hour, and how much extra child poverty would there be today if people were still on £2.50 an hour, just as the Tories wanted so many to be on? Remember Major telling us "If it isn't hurting, it isn't working" - meaning if there isn't mass unemployment and falling living standards, it isn't working. Likewise Lamont - another one who showed the true essence of those 18 wasted years - "Recession and mass unemployment is a price worth paying". So child poverty in tow was a price worth paying, according to the Tories and their supporters. And now the Tories pretend to care, because they think its expedient to do so. Why didn't they care during their 18 year tenure in office? And if the Lib Dems care so much, why did they oppose the nartional minimum wage? Because being uncaring comes as naturally to the Tories and their supporters as meat-eating to a crocodile, and with the same number of tears.
  17. Nice one, but the only way to rectify this sort of scum is a good caning, just as in Singapore. And guess what: Singapore doesn't have problems with vermin like this. But that would upset the liberal do-gooders.
  18. I'll tell you what the solution is. Boot camps. Have them all in. A tough, spartan regime of breaking rocks for 10 or 12 hours a day in all weathers (really they don't break rocks - they break strips of set concrete, and once that concrete has been broken up into small pieces, they lay fresh concrete - thats how they do it in the US), with tough looking guards with large dogs watching over them. No luxuries like watching TV, reading magazines etc, and let them know in uncertain terms that they'll be back in again and the punishment doubled if they don't mend their ways. That is the way to break them.
  19. And I notice the second recession came when nobody else was in recession. And as for pensions, you forget that the number of pensioners is soaring, and within 20 - 30 years, approx 30% of our population will be pensioners. And how are we going to be able to afford that in the future?
  20. We have a long way to go to get as silly, indifferent, and callous as yourself. Now let us look at what the Tories told us to get a true flavour of what they're like when in office. Remember Major telling us "If it isn't hurting, it isn't working" - when unemployment reached three million (with those fiddles still intact) for the second time, and when interest rates stood at 14%. And not to be outdone, at approximately the same time Lamont told us that recession and mass unemployment is "a price worth paying". Of course, you, being a true blue, go along fully with those sentiments - just as long as you're not paying that price when they're in office. And I do recall Tory Employment Minister Lord Young contemptuously referring to areas of high unemployment and soaring poverty as "stagnant pools".
  21. Yep - Californium 251 - a radioactive transuranium element with atomic number 98, and again, artificially made.
  22. For starters, plutonium isn't a naturally occurring element. It is made artificially in fast breeder reactors, so you won't find much plutonium in the environment.
  23. Moreso Thatcher and Major though. Has Blair ever presided over the dole queues that Thatcher and Major preesided over? No! Nor the waiting lists. Education, the NHS, our cities, our infrastructure have improived beyond all recognition under Blair. Still, you, like your Tory buddies, must have loved the dole queues of the 1980s right up to the mid 90s.
  24. Canadian company but built in Belgium. And who was Prime Minister in 1990 - or at least the first 11 moonths of that year - the wicked witch of Grantham.
