WintersMist replied to WintersMist's topic in Sheffield News & Discussions
Quick update - Watching weather last night on the box, and I'm sure the weatherperson was teasing me! I can't be sure, becuase the excitment had gripped me, but he mentioned something about it getting cold and rainy, but by the end of the week we might see something a little more colder! And they said it all mystifying So keep a watch on the skies and every weather report. WM -
Snow, including predictions, for winter 2007
WintersMist replied to WintersMist's topic in Sheffield News & Discussions
ermmm...that's a bit off putting, whilst we are on the lively debate of the jolities of snow. "Snow, glorious snow. Cold, fluffy and delicious!" On a more serious note, why should old people die because of snow? Your generalising winter. For it to snow it has to warm up a degree or snow, does it not? not sure bout that... Actually that brings me to another serious question. "It's too cold to snow." - Is that correct? You hear everyone say it, golly you probably say it yourself. But if that was true, how come it can snow in the Artic? Hmmm? Now I'm sure some much cleverer person is going to put me in my place, but I would appreciate the info. WM -

It's that time of year again, when I accept that summer is over and that winter is inevitable. Which brings me to the delightful ponderings of a cold, harsh, snowy winter! So does anybody have insider info about this winter's weather? I dream of big drifts of snow blocking my front door and having to face a week of soup in front of the telly......instead I get the pleasure of facing hurricane winds and that 'spitting' rain, as I battle through to work! So come on, "DO WE THINK ITS GONNA SNOW?" All responses appreciated

Hmmm that's a hard question, as they are all a bit pantaloons! Ummm I would say the Prince, only because it's cleaner than the rest. We ought to go down Eccie Rd a bit to Hunters Bar, cos the clear joint winners would be The Lescar, for its general front room riff raff and laughter + it's been the same since I was 15! The other honorble winner is the Porter Brook, great atmosphere and tasty grub, good for not making you feel like you have lost a fashion show too! So what bout Hunters Bar??? WM

Why do we have to suffer fireworks every night??
WintersMist replied to silverlady's topic in General Discussions
It depends where you live. Certainly, as someone has mentioned, they are a signal for drug users. The light a fire work to let everyone know they have scored and its safe for everyone to buy. Where I work, in a un-named area, it can be heard. Most other places its Asian Weddings or kids. I live nr Carterknowle and there is quite a few at mo. WM -

Oh my! Thanks for all your feedback. I think we can conclude that generally Onyx could do better and spend more money on better things, rather than orange stickers! WM

Yes I could and do take some, but not driving is a bain and with time so precious I only have enough time to do one trip a week when I actually go shopping. Not only that though, I think have more recycling bins would encourage Sheffield as a whole to do more recycling. WM
