I thought Violet May's used to be in the Wicker.If that was'nt it what was that one.and where was Violet May's.

On the Wicker, that I knew off, were Windmill, Outlaw and Kenny's.

At one time in the late 50'/6-'s there ere 2 record shopa os/ One on the same side as the Unity picture palace the other on the Side that Leather & Simpsons were on (same side ) across the road going towards town(Thunk that use to be a tripe shop) different occasions.

Violet Mays was just off the Moor,corner of earl street I think.The record shop I remember on The Wicker was Kenny's

There was one quite far down London Rd @1975 but I can't remember it's name.

There was one at the bottom of Sharrow Lane too, that specialised in reggae.

Did that later turn to Spin City records, remember buying some decent rare and bootleg stuff from there in the mid/late 80s.

What was the first record shop in Sheffield and the others that followed it?

 

I always remember the first Virgin record shop being on the moor was a rite hippy place 8)

 

My first single i bought was My Blue Sky by ELO

 

Philip Cann at the top of Dixon Lane long before Virgin was thought of

My first single was "It's Over" Roy Orbison, it was purchased from a record shop on Spital Hill either next door or a couple of doors up from the East House pub.

 

I can't remember the name of the shop but it was early '64 and I was 9yrs old.:)

Remember a place in the nearly 70's opposite Church House, I think its St James Street near to the cathedral. downstairs, called Some Kinda Mushroom, all 2nd hand L.P's if I remember, lots of Ravi Shankar albums!, the owner was a guy with long hair (What a surprise!)
