How long does hair take to grow?

Recommended Posts

My hair is shoulder length now and I hate it! I want it long, about 4 or 5 inches longer.

But it is taking forever! I have my hair cut about every 8 weeks, and only have about an inch trimmed off each time so why is it taking so long!

I also want to grow my layers out too cos it makes it feel fluffy!

So, on average, how long does it take to grow?

Hang upside down in a door way.

Not sure if it'll make your hair grow any quicker but it might be fun.

Forever and a day sweetie! Trust me, I'm growing mine too!

Luckily my ends never seem to split, so I can leave it longer than 8 weeks...

Mine was shoulder length in November... now its touching the bottom of my bra strap at the back... and I've had it cut about 3 times since November...

It definately needs doing though! Its like sooooo fluffy when its not straightened so I need one of my hairdresser's special intensive conditioning treatments when the ship comes in!

Mine grows at about an inch every two months, if you are having that much cut off every two months it won't grow much at all.

I tend to have the ends and untidy bits of mine trimmed about twice a year (i'm lucky i don't get split ends and because i don't use products in/on my hair its always healthy) Mine has grown about 6inches in the last year.

it could be more, its curly and hard to judge the true length of it!!!

I think your problem is down to the fact that you have it cut so often and have as much cut off as you do- my hair grows really quickly (but not all over- the back grows much faster than the sides or the front) and I still only get about a foot a year cut off it.

If you could put off getting it cut to every 12 weeks then you'll probably see the results much faster (but it depends on how much wear and tear from styling your hair gets as to whether the damage needs cutting off more often). In that one I'm lucky because mine's already very long and curly, so I don't heat style it very often.

I'm exactly the same Caprice, it gets right on my nerves!!

Ok, I'll try and not get it cut as often! I do straighten it so I tend to get split ends but I'll look after it more and get lots of deep condition! Ooh it'll save money too!

And I'll hang upside down :hihi:

Depends on the person. I have the fastest growing hair ever, according to my barber.

Women are different to men, they get split ends.

Take Brewer's Yeast tablets - they make your hair grow pretty quick. I remember taking them when I was a teenage metaller.
