Pitcher And Piano Closes: Cosy Club to open in its place

Recommended Posts

Pitcher and Piano on Holly Street (behind the City Hall) has announced that they have closed their doors for the last time… ☹️

A spokesperson said: "Thank you to all of our guests and team members past and present! It has been a great five years with you all".

Apparently “The bar has been bought by another company. A new venue will be opening in the summer”.

I've heard it's The Cosy Club that's taken it over.

If that's true then seems less of a dramatic story.   Basically one subsidiary brand converting into a different subsidiarity brand.

Wonder if there has been some backroom dealing here "PIPER" the conglomerate that owns the P&P brand just very coincidentally happened to  previously own the Turtle Bay brand right next door and also used to be an investor of the current conglomerate who owns the Cosy Club brand.

Isn't life convenient sometimes.

To be fair, Cosy Club would suit that unit better than P&P.

Was rather dark and quiet at lunchtimes whereas CC's are designed to be appealing as much at lunchtime as they are for the evening trade.

Should do well there.

Cosy Club confirms its opening date.

The new all-day dining venue, which already has branches in Leeds and York, will open its doors on Monday, July 15, at the former Pitcher & Piano site on Holly Street, opposite Sheffield City Hall.

Venue Highlights

The open-plan restaurant will feature a mezzanine level, a statement bar, a private dining room for parties and celebrations, a large alfresco area at the front, and a terrace at the rear.

Grand Opening Celebration

Cosy Club Sheffield, part of the Loungers brand, is planning a big launch party to celebrate its arrival. Kate Lister-Clancy, marketing director of Loungers, expressed excitement about the new location, saying: “Sheffield is a buzzing and vibrant city and the perfect fit for our Cosy Club vibe. People here know how to have fun and enjoy themselves, so we look forward to welcoming new and existing fans of Cosy Club.”

Dining Experience

Cosy Club customers can look forward to a ‘decadent dining’ experience with ‘handcrafted’ cocktails in a ‘sparkling’ setting. The all-day menu will feature ‘intelligently sourced’ ingredients, offering fresh and modern British classics, an extensive brunch range, and a variety of gluten-free and vegan options.

Menu Highlights

Cosy Club's menu includes breakfast, lunch, and dinner options. Main dishes feature confit duck leg cassoulet, pan-fried sea bass, and Massaman cauliflower. Signature cocktails include the Flapper Fizz Martini, Ruby Royale, and Strawberry Cosmo.

I admit I had to look up what a "statement bar" is, and found this:

"So, what exactly is a statement bar? It's a bar that is designed to be a centerpiece of the event, something that will catch the eye and become a conversation starter. These bars are often custom-built or feature unique materials and design elements that set them apart from the typical bar. They are designed to create an immersive experience for guests, transporting them to a different world or setting the tone for the event."

And so now I know.
