At one point long ago I think it was a butchers - I wonder if it was repurposed if the Simmonite Brothers (who left Division Street some time back) may be tempted back.  Just think of it - a decent butchers right in the centre of the Sheffield bus hub!  Perfect for grabbing something to stir-fry or cook on your way home after a few beers elsewhere!

I'll go back and give it a try when someone else has taken it over.  The problem with the current people running it is they didn't really do anything to improve the place. Even cosmetic stuff like repairing the fittings in the toilets would help.  The QH is a bit isolated in a way - surrounded by modern office blocks. However, it's only five to ten minutes walk from the Sheffield Tap at the station, The Howard and Rutland Arms. It's perfectly possible to market it as part of a crawl round that end of town.  

Is the Penny Black still there - more or less opposite?

Yes it is. The QH building isn’t the problem.

When marstons refurbished it I went in and it was  sound.

 

bit isolated tho isn’t it for a boozer.

yes it is. Sheffield Tap just by the station is worth a go.

I don't think the OQH can be anything other than a pub or perhaps a restaurant. The building just isn't suitable otherwise.

Used to like the Queens Head when I used to go out drinking and a nice pint of pale ale . It must be a while ago now as I recall they did food then.

 

When a venue starts changing its opening hours erratically or reducing them its usually the kiss of death for a place , since no one wants to brave it into town these days not knowing if a venue will be open or not ... bye bye QH , that leaves only the Norfolk Arms 😞

Penny Black is still open .

Oh yes I forgot the Penny - long live the Penny Black and Norfolk Arms , both quite close to a pub crawl from the Howard 🙂
