Double Child Rapist And Murderer Faces Fresh Parole Hearing

Recommended Posts

A man who raped and murdered two children will face a new parole hearing after successfully challenging a decision to keep him in prison.

Colin Pitchfork was jailed for life with a minimum term of 30 years, later reduced to 28 years, in 1988.

He raped and strangled 15-year-olds Lynda Mann and Dawn Ashworth in 1983 and 1986 respectively.

Last year the Parole Board ruled Pitchfork should not be freed, but he applied for the decision to be reconsidered and this has been granted.

He will face another hearing to decide if he can be freed from prison.

In a statement, the Parole Board said: ‘The decision refusing Mr Pitchfork’s release was eligible for reconsideration under the Parole Board Rules.

He deserves no appeal if he's guilty I cannot imagine what's going through the parents minds ..

Very true however I doubt the parents have even been considered. He took the lives of two 15 year old children. For that he should never see the light of day again I'm my opinion

It's well past time when we looked at those rules again and changed them to ensure monsters like him never roam our streets again.

I hope the parole board who carries out risk assessments will say he is not fit to be released from prison. They need to do the right thing this time, they got it wrong  the last time he was released from prison, he broke his parole licence conditions.

The death sentence would guarantee monsters like him never roam our streets again. The first murderer convicted by DNA evidence should have resulted in the first murderer being hanged after the death sentence being brought back.

No, the death sentence shouldn't be brought back.
