Those are petrol/diesel tanks tho, they wouldn't be any good at storing hydrogen.  It'd need all new stuff installing.

Hmmm...

I'm guessing they'd need to install much heavier storage tanks? :hihi:

that is true but basically a lot of the work would be done - big hole, etc.  Its surely easier to replace the existing with a new tank and compression/pump kit than go all new?   just thinking if Hydrogen becomes the next best thing - starting to replace existing with new is a no brainer.  Got to be easier than finding extra space and infrastructure for the charging points

I have visions of cars taking off into the distance like the DeLorean in Back to the Future and ending up like the Hindenburg!😃

Still if you’re old and have had enough of this world, what a way to go!!!

With the latest being Volvo, adding to Ford, GM, VW/Audi Group, Toyota & Honda, all cancelling plans to develop, expand or even continue production of battery EVs, does this signal the end for them?

Aren't they just cancelling plans to develop CHEAP EVs?

TOKYO, Oct 25 (Reuters) - Honda Motor (7267.T), opens new tab and General Motors (GM) (GM.N), opens new tab are scrapping a plan to jointly develop affordable electric vehicles (EVs), the companies said on Wednesday, just a year after they agreed to work together in a $5 billion effort to try to beat Tesla (TSLA.O), opens new tab in sales.

The decision underscores GM's strategic shift to slow the launch of several EV models to focus on profitability, as it grapples with the rising cost of United Auto Workers strikes, which surged to $200 million a week this month.

Depends how it's installed, is it a tank in a hole in the ground, or is the tank buried entirely?

Cos it'd be easier digging a new hole to install a hydrogen tank in, than digging up and old tank, sorting out it's disposal (as it's obviously hazardous) then making the hole good and installing a hydrogen tank in.

Planning might be an advantage for an existing fuel station though, probably not so laborious with the council if you're swapping tanks and pipework about,
