British Post Office Scandal

Oh really.   In your expert opinion then - just how long do you think it should take to thoroughly complete an Inquiry of events stretching back 20+ years, involving tens of thousands of documents and witness testimony from potentially 120 or more witnesses based on current discovery.

Do you recall other enquireries, they are generally just a white wash.

There has been talk of a fundraiser and private prosecutions of the wrong doers, because the police are using the enquirery as an excuse not to prosecute.

If the PO, still, can prosecute post masters themselves, then a fundraiser will help to prosecute those in charge.

I suspect the Post Office will find it very difficult to bring prosecutions themselves now. If they tried, the first thing any defence lawyer would do is point to their misuse of their powers and request that any prosecution should be brought by the CPS rather than POL. After all, if there is a reasonable prospect of a case to answer, the CPS would be happy to prosecute.

Not sure you understood, it is the post masters prosecuting those that lied against them, turning the tables.

After watching some of the questioning on the BBC in the PO investigation, the questions are very good, the PO staff answering are doing their best not to remember what happened.

Is anyone else watching?

The PO staff definitely seem to be preparing the groundwork for an 'I was incompetent' defence ahead of any police investigations.

The bits I've seen on the news are fascinating.

Top PO lawyer, (presumably highly paid to check documents), and 'others', (so there's a team of incompetents?), failed to spot important info on the Horizon system being able to be accessed remotely?

https://www.bbc.com/news/business-68855686

Any of this info could have exonerated Sub-Postmasters & stop others from being gaoled years later.  There also the sinister aspect of people being told to shread info.  Hmmm?
