The Albion is still going too isn't it? Not been down that way for a while.

Yes, The Albion is still going.  We were in there last weekend.  It's a mainly a  real ale pub with a number of beers /  lager by Stancil Brewery   do a decent Barnsley Bitter.  A bit quieter than the other pubs down there, outside match days because they no longer have Sky sports for football but there usually background music on & it means you can have a chat.

The drinks are a decent price.

Down that way I like The Albion, Cremorne & just off London Rd, nearby on Alderson Rd, the Golden Lion.  All decent pubs.

Ah yes it is thriving !!.. and you can also add the Picture House Social and the Speakeasy Bar, both housed in the old Abbeydale Cinema building 🙂

PS I thought that I saw the Old Crown Inn, London Road open again the other day when passing on the bus?

Wasn't  Barrowboy near the bottom of Dixon Lane or am I

 confusing myself?

Going back to the 70’s Ecclesall Road was pub free between the Nursery Tavern and the Banner Cross Hotel.

Shude Hill, under the Commercial St bridge. The doorway is still there.

I read a line in a recent "Beer Matters" booklet, which is produced monthly by the local Campaign for Real Ale group, that somebody was looking to reopen it as a rock bar. Not sure that it's a good idea, maybe when Rebels was open back in the day, but can't see anyone trailing down there, no other similar places around it.
