The Decline In Pubs On London Road

Recommended Posts

Sad to see the pubs declining in this area, while they seem to be flourishing on Abbeydale Rd...

Two in question, the Barrel Inn still sadly closed - is this a permanent thing as the outside of it looks a bit rough now ?

Surprisingly, the Crown Inn now also seems to be closed, I'm sure that this one was open up to very recently - what has happened there ?

Well I guess at lest we still have Jabberworky, The Cremorne and Barrys Bar 🙂

A Greek restaurant before that, I think. Not 100% sure. Edit....think I'm confusing it with Parthenonas a block nearer town.

But as Jabberwocky it's OK for a drink.

Yes, The Albion is still going.  We were in there last weekend.  It's a mainly a  real ale pub with a number of beers /  lager by Stancil Brewery   do a decent Barnsley Bitter.  A bit quieter than the other pubs down there, outside match days because they no longer have Sky sports for football but there usually background music on & it means you can have a chat.

The drinks are a decent price.

Down that way I like The Albion, Cremorne & just off London Rd, nearby on Alderson Rd, the Golden Lion.  All decent pubs.
