Yep, it's literally "Robin Hood" in reverse, they tax the crap out of the poor, and give the money to the rich!

Sheffield City Council has approved the sum of £296,000 to be spent on events celebrating the forthcoming coronation of King Charles III.

This includes an allocation of £5,000 to each of the 7 Local Area Committees across the city for local community celebrations.

That doesn't surprise me.  They were always up for having a good time rather than getting stuck in to a proper job of work.

That's why a formerly great city has the amenities of a little town.

Regarding celebrations for King Charles, to be fair to the council here they're damned if they do and damned if they don't. Celebrating monarchy isn't in the natural instincts of Sheffield Labour but they feel they have to to avoid  backlash for not doing so.

In this instance, as with others, the Council is damned if they do and damned if they don't. £300k is tiny in comparison with the whole Council expenditure, and some communities will use it for activities on the day, which is really important.

I agree. Nobody should be allowed any fun at all with Council funding being cut to the bone.

Don't talk rubbish. That is nothing like a comparison. 

If people want to have street parties to show their undying support for another family, let them pay for it out of their own pocket.
