Or to have a more rational view, the Democrats would always try to win any election ,as would Republicans.

Any weakness in the opposition is there to be taken advantage of.

This may be on political issues or increasingly on personal grounds, something that Trump has repeatedly done against both Democrats and any challengers from his own party.

So Trump himself has invited the succession of actions as a result of his belief that he is above the law  and that his loyal supporters will forgive him anything from assaulting women to undermining democracy.

This is demonstrably true from his ratings as Republican candidate but how it plays out across the electorate will be interesting.

Anyway he is undeniably a strange orange colour with little hands and a hairstyle that defies gravity,so that must count against him....I hope

Lol

What's going on in America right now rises above the traditional political battles between the two main parties for the hearts and minds of the electorate.

We have a Democrat party in power, that is  has been, and is determined, "at all costs" to de-legitimize its rival. and is using all the levers of government it controls to effect that outcome.

With the Democrat leanings in Academia, federal, state and local government bureaucracy, government law enforcement Agencies, and their Unions, (up to 85% according to Gallup), they have a  finger and an arm firmly placed on the balance scale.

The Free Press, once the arbiter of fair and equitable government are likewise overwhelmingly composed of Democrats, according to the same Gallup polls, so there is no restraint on the overreach and selective prosecution that is presently going on.

So one Party's malfeasance consistently gets a pass, and the other is consistently demonised, and prosecuted.

As a result the fervor to destroy the Republican Party has no natural restraint mechanism. It is now a very personal and far reaching vendetta, even here, in the bowels of a backwater Sheffield Forum, as illustrated by your personal gratuitous comment in your last paragraph!  :)

The precedents being set here, are very destructive to Democracy in general, but need no 'conspiracy theories' to explain. It's a fight for the survival of one political philosophy over another, and can easily see the tables turned overnight in the next election.

The only arbiters of what is right, fair and just is not you, or I, or the Media, but the electorate, of whom some 70,000,000 voted for Trump. and/or his policies.

That's about half the voting population at any given time, and they get to make their judgement in the next Presidential Election!

May the best man win!

Judge Chutkan was previously an attorney and later a partner in the law firm Boies, Schiller & Flexner. She was an Obama doner whom he later appointed as the district judge for the US District Court for the District of Columbia.  I find this interesting because for five years during her time at the law firm, one of her colleagues was Hunter Biden. They both left in 2014. Smell anything?

Morning smile!

Seems climate change goddess Greta, got arrested again. This time in Sweden, not generally known as a draconian Police State!

Between her and Joe Biden, the number of arrests of leftist idols reaches epidemic proportions.

That is, of course if you believe serial liar and Corn Pop killer Joe, who claims to have been arrested on 3 different occasions.

So far in arrests, its Greta and Joe 5

Yes, desperation and maga tears.

Is maga world having a similar cry about Aileen Cannon, the Trump-nominated judge in the Florida classified documents case?  You know, the registered Republican and Federalist Society member who got a unanimous slap on the wrist from the (two-thirds Trump-appointed) appeals court panel when she blocked federal prosecutors access to the classified documents ferreted away by Trump at Mar-a Lago.  Thought not.

The thoughts and worries of a typical Sheffielder when they wake up after eating some late night cheese.

As you said the US have a Democratically elected President in power.

Something that Trump found hard to accept and battled hard to overturn.

Now that is very destructive to Democracy.

The battle between “Socialism “and Capitalism is a long running saga around the world and in many countries.

Labour/Conservative,Republicans/Democrats. etc.

A matter of months ago here in the U.K. there was a common belief that Labour was unelectable and the Conservative would be in power for another decade.

The pendulum swings and the Republican Party will not be destroyed by outside forces.

Just like the Conservatives they might self harm due to the factions within the party.

They may well nominate Trump as being the best bet to regain power just as Johnson was heralded as the messiah.

We shall see but if Trump is the best man it says much of the standards of the GOP.

It will say more about who's policies are seen to be best for the country!

Your personal standards, like orange hair and small hands, might not be shared by the thinking majority!  :)

What's going on here?

"What's going on here?" Someone who does not understand that Trump was not 'arrested' because he 'voluntarily submitted' himself to the Court after the Grand Jury had voted and he being Indicted on Criminal Charges.

His Arraignment on Criminal Charges relating to the election interference indictment will happen in a few Hours. His co -conspirators have been named as Rudy Giuliani, Trump lawyer John Eastman, Trump lawyer Sidney Powell, Justice Department official Jeffrey Clark, Trump lawyer Kenneth Chesebro and one other.

"What's going on here?" An odd attempt to compare the alleged multiple Federal Criminal activities of an elected public official with the a 20 year old allegedly disobeying a police order at a demo.

"What's going on here?" The impressive act of shooting yourself in the foot while having your head in the sand.

I think Trump is a self centered wally, however yes I absolutely believe certain factions have been after him relentlessly since he completely embarrassed them by becoming president.
