Snooker147
Hello, I am wanting to demolish my garage it is at the back of my property not attached to my house its not a usable building as the roof is rotting and the bricks are all damp and covered in algae and you can't even fit a car in it that small! So I was wondering can I just get on with demolishing it or do I need to inform the council has anyone done anything like this before ?

andrejuan
Tell the rates department, it should reduce your council tax.
carosio
As far as I know, you can knock your house down provided it's not listed or attached to any other property, or if it is, structural work has to be done to make safe the attached building? You would need to notify the council though, I think via a prior approval application. https://ecab.planningportal.co.uk/uploads/1app/guidance/guidance_note-prior_notification_of_proposed_demolition.pdf
carosio
Probably because of the safety aspect, noise, dust etc.
