Paul Nuttall UKIP Leader - Billy Liar

Recommended Posts

I understand he is from Liverpool, didnt many people lose someone they 'knew'?

I don't want to get involved in UKIP bashing, our democracy needs some small successful parties.

Many public figures have probably done similar things, but the chances of getting away with it now are reduced because of the advent of the internet. For example, Gina Miller, the darling of the Remainers, claimed to have a Law degree on her website. When it was discovered she did not, she said that the information was put there by a member of her staff without her knowledge, the same excuse used by Nuttall. For some reason, Miller escaped the opprobrium being heaped on Nuttall.

Miller isn't trying to become an MP.

This is a 'rum do' about UKIP's leader Paul Nuttall.

First he denies that he lied about losing friends at the Hillsborough disaster, then he said that he was, then reporters start asking probing questions of family and friends, then he blames his employee, then he comes clean, sort of.

Another website then claims that he was a professional footballer for Tranmere Rovers, and that he held a PHD. All of this has been repeated to him for many years, as in introductions to programmes, yet never once, until very recently has he sought to clear up the fact that he wasn't a professional footballer, or that he holds a PHD.

Why did he not clear up the confusion earlier on?

Perhaps he thought the rumours would bolster his working class reputation, now that UKIP claims it wants to be the party of the working class. Or perhaps he was genuinely unaware that people thought he was at the Hillsborough disaster, that he was a professional footballer, and that he did hold a PHD. Or perhaps he thought he could get away with it.

If the new UKIP leader is "economical with the actualité", that`s only to be expected. Let`s remember the 350 million pounds a week lie, and all the other exaggerations and distortions in the referendum campaign. Not forgetting the infamous remark from Farage, "if we lose it`s not over !". Then he promptly changed his mind when they actually won by a small margin.

Actually, I`d say Paul Nuttall is an ideal fit for UKIP.

so its always somebody else? dont these people actually check what their website, leaflets etc actually say?

Quite. It's one thing not to write everything published in one's name. It's quite another to not read it even once.

Actually the £350m came from "Vote Leave" and Nuttall was with Leave.eu. Leave.eu came up with that horrific queue of migrants poster.

so that's all right then. Arguably, Miller's faux pas is more serious, because it appeared on two of her finance company websites. Surely potential investors have a right to expect the owners of investment companies to ensure that accurate data is posted about their professional qualifications.

And what about William Hague's claim to have drunk 14 pints of beer a day when a teenager? It didn't do any harm to his subsequent career (although it would have done to his health if the story had been true).
