Brexit vote > Trump > Le Pen (?) : worth it ?

Recommended Posts

Not at all. I just recognise that you are similar in your beliefs to these people, whom I also refuse to judge.

I'm similar in my beliefs to anti-semites and members of the EDL because I would have less respect for members of the Klu Klux Klan than members of Médecins Sans Frontières. Is that really what you are saying? Seriously?

You apparently refuse to judge members of the Klu Klux Klan (or similar) because you have not met them personally and only judge people by actions and not beliefs, and yet you judge me on my belief that members of such groups deserve less respect than the general populace. Calling it 'recognising' instead of 'judging' in an attempt to get out of this obvious contradiction is a rather weak cop out.

No, I am not judging you on your belief. I have just recognised that you have similar beliefs to others. There is absolutely no judgement on you.

Yeeeah JPeters, the fact that you won't judge fascists or the KKK says a fair bit about you.

Well the KKK are a little bit different I suppose, because one could hate them for the actions of joining o attending the meetings.

I absolutely do not blindly hate fascists, because I am a liberal. Do you even know what fascism is? Why do you hate people who think that is the best way to run a country?

Glad you've seen (some) sense.

Originally you said I was the same as an anti-semite because I had less respect for members of the KKK than members of the Médecins Sans Frontières, now you're saying that's OK after all. Good.

No, if you read back I was talking about fascists, you then responded about the KKK and I didn't correct you, I probably should have.

Perhaps you misunderstood my original post.

I originally wrote just to say that whilst I generally agree that generalisations about groups of people are wrong, there are cases when a group can be generalised, such as Nazi's and the KKK. This is because the groups only exists because of strong beliefs that are generally accepted as being abhorrent, and so making a negative judgement about that group is reasonable.

I did not comment on fascists at all (in the general sense), deliberately so, so I'm not sure what about my posts needed 'correcting'. I did not comment on whether you should put fascists into that category, only that it isn't always wrong to make judgements about a group.

You commented that such opinion makes me the same as an anti-semite, even when I asked you specifically in reference to the KKK and the MSF. Again, I didn't mention fascists. You said it did because I was judging people based on their beliefs.

I'm not sure where you could have gotten the impression I was talking about fascism generally from, seeing as I never used the word and asked you specific questions, again not using that word.

I am glad however that we now agree that it is acceptable to have less respect for members of the KKK than the MSF, as the last time I posed the question you said it put me in the same category as an anti-semite. I'm glad you don't think that anymore.

I would stick to slagging off German cars and loud motorbikes.

Because the drivel you have just posted there is slightly less credible.

Again, you`re coming up short, you`ve obviously not studied the opener. It wasn`t me who forecast the French NF might win the French presidency, it was a BBC correspondent. And it`s by no means only me who has suggested that Trump winning the US Presidency was influenced strongly by the UK`s Brexit vote, in fact I thought it was more or less accepted, not least by Farage himself. Nor was it me, it was the aforementioned BBC correspondent, who thought the extrapolation to the French presidential election was quite plausible.

But it`s not the first time you`ve not studied my posts. I don`t slag off German cars, or even (all) German car drivers. Just a higher proportion than drivers of non German cars, and I quote research to back it up (not that most people need any to know it`s true). That`s a very different thing.

Slag off loud motorbikes ? Yes, I definitely plead guilty to that, and with good reason, I even have the law on my side.

You are in this case [being silly].

I refer you to the answer above.

I do not think Le Pen will win. Sarkozy got lots of her votes last time by being the "nice" right wing alternative, and Fillon will repeat the trick this time.

Unless there are a couple more terrorist atrocities in France, because that would help Le Pen.

I sure hope you`re right, though I also agree with you, because of the French electoral system. Trump wouldn`t have won in the US had the other very minor* candidates been eliminated in an earlier round. So the French haver got the best presidential voting system !

* They were very minor, but it was a very close vote.

The left must urgently stand up against "fascism". Some sort of national movement based on socialism is probably what's called for.

It's clearly all the fault of wealthy people and Isreal so something urgently must be done about all those sorts of people.

In the name of freedom all ideas which the righteous representatives of the left deem wrong must be purged from our society, destroyed by any means necessary.

Only in this way can peace, freedom and democracy be preserved.
