Changing energy suppliers

Recommended Posts

what price comparison site are you using?

I use either compare the market or money supermarket and I'm pretty sure all energy providers show both the standing charge and the unit rates . . . How else can you accurately compare them ?

I have tried a few different ones. A friend at work has changed, she has gone with Sainsburys, not the cheapest on my list, but it was on the list.

I was on sainsburys and got a good deal, just changed to greenstar, easy to change through compare the market. Sainsburys went up with a big bump but greenstar matched the old tariff, there were some cheaper but wanted monthly payments and I like to do it quarterly.

Its that set number that I do not like, one supplier might have it too low, then after a few months, they hike it up.

That did concern me a bit to be honest, it seemed too much of a price drop. I actually have a Scottish Power app now on my phone, so I do a meter reading myself every couple of weeks. It recalculates my usage and tells me if I need to up my payments. I havent yet, 18 months down the line. In fact it said I could lower them slightly but I opted to keep them the same.

It's easy to work out how much you should be paying..just look at last year's useage.....you'll know if you're paying way below or above what you should be..

Scottish power online says that I will pay £460 fixed to June 2017

Does the £460 tally with your usage and their tariff?
