I have just searched Sheffield Council's Births deaths and marriages, and as far

as their records go, My parents never did any of the above, which makes me a

figment Any suggestions on how to open the boxes, and will it be a wasted

journey visiting the department in question??

Maybe they were born / lived / registered somewhere else?

Both parents were born here lived here, and my father died here. my mother

is still here, I know very little about my father, who died when I was a baby.

No documents about him at all.I just wanted to know when he was born, and, when he died

Sheffield & District Family History Society are transcribing the Sheffield register office indexes and they are not complete yet. We have transcribed the births to 1937 and the register office are doing the marriages and deaths.

As Annie Bynnol states try http://www.freebmd.org.uk/cgi/search.pl although that is not complete.

Your other option is Findmypast or Ancestry which are pay to view sites

My father would have been born 1908/09 at a rough guess

As I use PAYG on my laptop the Ancestor road is a no no

Thank you,for trying ,I feel like half an orphan, it's so frustrating
