charmer
It's informed, educated decisions that let people get away with crimes that deserve tougher sentences. The bereaved families should have, and i believe do have, a right to challenge a miscarriage of justice. Are you advocating a criminal justice system based on uninformed uneducated decisions? redfox
Please read these - if you don't agree with them contact your MP. He pleaded guilty and as a result is entitled to credit for that plea (the ponyphile had a trial and lost) The rest is a matter for the Judge based on the facts as he finds http://www.sentencingcouncil.org.uk/publications/item/causing-death-by-driving-definitive-guideline/ The Crown have the right of appeal by way of an Attorney Generals Reference

Happ Hazzard
The wishes of the public should take priority over the wishes of the so-called "experts" who have their own agenda. If the public want criminals to recieve long sentences in harsh prisons, then that is what the public servants should provide.

Who needs educated experts in their field when the public can decide? Bring this man back to the appeal court and the sheffield public should have a phone vote for his sentence. For a prison sentence of 3 years it's 02 at the end. If you want 4 years then you dial 03. Perhaps this could be the justice system in one of the ten countries the UK will break up into. denlin
Are juries selected on the basis of above average intelligence? ---------- Post added 01-02-2015 at 08:33 ---------- Yeah man, fight the power! If you mean the Judge he is bound by constraints put on him in the terms of sentencing. If you mean who said killing somebody with a car makes them less dead than if you shot them then the law is an an ass in some cases. But hey he's sorry he got into a car while off his face with drugs, he's sorry he has no licence, no insurance, did sixty in a 30 zone and lets all feel sorry for him. In fact let him out he's obviously a victim of society and won't do it again Edited February 1, 2015 by denlin
