2014 World Cup

Not sure it was luck, but the Algerians gave an excellent account of themselves, some of those lads will end up with nice transfers I'd imagine! Boughera on a free... get it done Wednesday!

They just lacked that cutting edge/final ball otherwise surely would have dumped Germany out of the cup.

Algeria can go home proud-they are ranked 12 places below England in Fifa rankings- but I'd rather watch Algeria than England for entertainment.

Yeah the final ball was poor throughout, although they played some excellent direct passes over the back of the slow Germans. I kept thinking: if only they had a guy on the wing who could actually deliver the ball.

Typical Germans, always lucky when it matters

Sorry Bedders not luck, yes Algeria played well but Germany have that certain something England don't.

That's why Rooney & co were watching it on TV & not taking part.

The Germans are ruthlessly efficient - they always find a way against plucky under dogs. When was the last time they were beaten in a major competition against a less fancied team like Algeria ? Ever?

Muller was good again even though I cannot stand him.

100% agree - I turned it off. British people are hardwired to root for the plucky underdog. There is always an inevitability when the Germans play.

Brazil - Germany final is the stuff of fifa marketing people's dreams...

TFH the World Cup always brings out the best in Germany, they could so easily have lost though yesterday as I said earlier they & France have rebuilt are both look good, sorry but I cannot rate Brazil as the top one to watch at this WC.

Is that a rhetorical question, or post ironic (I can't tell these days) seeing as we all know it was 1982 and a prelude to the "Anschluss" against Austria when they went into a 1 goal lead then both teams stopped playing for 80 minutes in order for both to go through.

Earlier in the group stage Algeria had beaten West Germany 2-1 but were knocked out after the "Disgrace of Gijón"

It prompted FIFA to change the rules so that all final group games are now played at the same time.

I believe that children are our future. Unless we stop them now.
