truman
It's not always about price. Â You're forgetting that this is Sheffield Forum...
Walkley Dave
Local garages like the one in the Hope Valley are not rip-offs IMHO and their prices do reflect cost and turnover. Â However small the supermarket margins on petrol this applies to other goods. Remarkably you will find that adjacent competitive stores (e.g. Chesterfield Sainsbury and Tesco; Archer Rd Sainsbury and Abbeydale Tesco) the prices are invariably identical. Â They will charge as much as the market will bear. It's called capitalism.
smithy266
Sainsbury's Archer Road is always a few pennies cheaper that Sainsbury's Dronfield, yet only a few miles apart. Not complaining, just saying.
Bonjon
I always use BP in Wakey, 1p dearer than the Sainsbury's (which is always one of the cheapest), but the fuel seems to go much further.
Solihull Boy
Well obviously Supertramp I suggest that there is a difference between a profit margin, and charging the public what you think you can get away with !!
Greatgranny
1p a litre only make a difference of approx. 60p a tank for the average car, less if you don't fill up or drive a supermini. IMO not worth making a special journey to save yourself that amount.
geared
Agreed, when 60p buys you less than a litre of juice, even on an economical car it's less than 5 miles of travel. Â Probably under a mile in city driving conditions.

---------- Post added 15-09-2013 at 17:10 ----------  and these garages are owned by supermarkets!!!
