How about a simple Green for hills and black cross for coal or a silver cross for steel.

 

How about a simple green to show our green credentials and some nice cosmic symbols to show oneness with the universe.Perhaps a white star with a nice white crescent moon. I'm sure it would be popular

Purple and green were the SYCC colours way before Jobcentres used them.

Except that that isn't an England flag. The English flag is a symmetrical red cross, whereas that one is asymmetrical like the crosses of the Nordic countries.

 

Also the "rose with streams" used here is a family badge of the House of York from the fifteenth century and particularly that of Edward, earl of March whose connection with Yorkshire was not particularly strong.
