Used the Co-op at Totley. Can remember being sent on errands repeating in my head whatever I'd been sent for and saying 28856 after each item.

Divi was spent at S&E Arcade at the bottom of the Moor, usually on school uniform

I remember at the age of 4 going to Wolsely Rd Co-op (now a mosque) with my mum, me on my 3-wheeler bike with a basket on the front to hold some of the groceries and then the wonder of the flying change operatus and the man in the flour room bagging flour. Most importantly I remember my mums co-op number to this day and I'm 76.~ incredible!

On the subject of memory...

 

I can quote my National Insurance number,

Passport number,

National Health number,

every sort code and bank account number,

the telephone numbers of every house we've lived in,

most of the car regs we've had...many believe me,

and recall every name on the school register up to my name....

 

Can I remember which Junction number of the M1 I get off at.......NO!

 

I recognise the exit and get off OK but when giving direction to my house I get muddled up between Jcn numbers 30 and 31 - mental block..
