I lived on blake st in my husbands grandads house in the late sixties his name was charlie hinchliffe an he was a silversmith who had one of the little mesters places. that road was a killer to walk up with shopping and on the day we moved it snowed and the large removal van was trying to slide down the hill.Even then we had an outside toilet and no bathroom !!
  2. anyone remember the funfairs we used to have in various parts of sheffield I myself [due to living on basegreen] remember the ones in oakes park [quite a big one] also bottom of fox lane,the one on field on white lane ,one near rex cinema and also near frecheville pond when it was carnival time.

  7. I can remember a couple of bread vans coming round basegreen Ron Holmes and his wife and another mobile shop but don't remember his name they were very handy if you didn't want to go to shops don't think they would work now though

  11. just want to correct something it was john eagle who ran deli at townend and it was him that was blind not jean his wife (sadly jean passed away a while ago) I worked for them for awhile what a lovely couple we actually helped them when they moved away

  14. Theres been lots of burglaries in basegreen too like has already been said the law needs to deal with these animals more harshly not community service they just laugh when they get that
