My niece and nephew go to a school which is high up in the Pennines near Halifax and they have standing snow for much of the winter most years. In the years they have been going to school I only remember the school closing early once. It's us townies who panic at the first sign of snow (at least, some of us do). If it's dangerous to drive it's dangerous to drive and many people can't get to school if they can't drive. Would you prefer more road accidents or something?
