EDL Leader Remanded for Using False Passport To Enter The USA

Recommended Posts

Hint. No one looks at loony Youtube links.

Perhaps you could say in words what 'success' the EDL has had.

I am no fan of the BBC, but even broken clocks get it right twice a day.

Yeah, but you have to know what time it actually is, if you want to know when the clock is accurate.

And of course, they end up being an average of three hours out for 23 hours, 59 minutes and 99.99999999999 seconds (the rest of the day).

It's one of the more stupid aphorisms floating about.

A broken clock for a broken record.

As the EDL time their activities to deliberately stretch police resources then maybe it's the fault of the people who call loudest for illegal immigrants to be found who are most undermining police efforts to find them.

Yet its usually the EDL who plan a demo/march whatever you want to call it and then the UAF apply for a counter demo ...not the other way round...tell me who are the trouble makers then ?

I don't think this is true. After the Anti-Nazi League saw off the National Front in the early 80s it ceased to function as an organisation. It carried on pretty much in name only for a while then fizzled out. The thing about a 'united front' (i.e. a loose organisation of people with disparate political views who get together to oppose a common enemy) is that once the job is done there's no need for it to carry on. Most people don't want to spend their Saturday afternoons traipsing around places like Rotherham and Bermondsey in the pishing rain!

That's also a fairly reasonable description for the EDL too. People come together to lend support to the EDL because it's a cause for which they share common concern. This will undoubtedly include people with more extreme views but this does not make them representative of the rest.

It's worth noting that the EDL is a movement, it is not a membership organisation, it does not have members, it does not have a membership office, it does not have membership fees, there are no card carry members because it is not something you can be a member of, so next time somebody says a "member" of the EDL has done this or that, remember there aren't any members.

Handy that; so much easier to pretend that the paedophiles, wife beaters and 14 worders aren't anything to do with them and that it's just a coincidence that their followers are an embarassment.

Yes, it's not something actual political parties have the luxury of, such as when their councillors and MPs are found to be paedophiles.

Then the same things apply to the EDL. Dispand and move on. The time their precursor organisations had a purpose to serve has now gone. They are now part of the problem, not the solution.

I guess the problems they protest still exist.

And the EDL helped discover any of that how? There was a time and a place for their precursors and they did help to change attitudes. But 9/11 made them redundant, policies of appeasment and complicity by the security services went out the window and the main players who their precursors protested against are all either in jail or deported. Who's left? Saif al Islam and Andy "Anjem" Choudary. Pair of jokers. The EDL are not doing any good, indeed they stretch police resources and cause antagonism among muslims so they are doing harm. So they should disband.
