If you witness this and do nothing perhaps you are partly culpable.

When this government says that there are 120,000 "problem" families their figure is based on the following criteria:

  • Earning a low income
  • Nobody in the family working
  • Poor housing
  • Parents with no qualifications
  • The mother having a mental health problem
  • One parent with a longstanding illness or disability
  • The family unable to afford basics including food and clothes

If you meet five of these criteria then you are one of this government's problem families.

Quite a lot of everyday normal people in Sheffield hit at least 3 or 4 of those through no fault of their own.

When you look at that it's pretty obvious that poverty is the root of being a problem family so Louise Casey is essentially saying that poor people should be ashamed of having children.

So basically you're saying that all the problem families are ill or disabled.

That's a different argument. Whilst it is a topic for debate, it isn't relevant to this discussion. Hopefully MPs who are failing won't get re-elected. The answer is in all our hands.

YAY:D

Nail hit on head

Want a holiday next year love, I'll get you up duff and get £500 grant for spitting it out and the £70 a week for having it.

Its time the £500 maternity grant is stopped.

It's time to limit any child related benefits to 2 kids, if you want more then it's out of you pocket not ours.

It's time to crack down on single moms having kids just to stay out of JSA where it's sign on time. You have a kid and your on income support no questions asked and don't have to actively look for work.

How many times have we seen in the press, couples with 9+ kids and then moaning because the local authority won't give them a bigger house,

....errr no times?

Given that the real cost of bringing up children exceeds the value of benefits:you are making no sense and sound like a parrot working for Murdoch or Kelvin McKenzie

Precisely. Its total rubbish to say that you can somehow make a profit from having a child while you're reliant on benefits.

This is the usual garbage spouted by the ignorati

It’s a little naive to think that all claimants spend the money they receive for their kids, on their kids.

Part of the reason for child poverty isn't income it's spending choices. Plenty of families on low wages/benefits manage to feed and clothe their children adequately.

This is what the topic is about, a problem family doesn’t spend the money they are given for sitting on their arse, on their kids, they spend it on themselves, and the more kids they have, the more they have for themselves.

But it aint a different argument at all, is it really. Its all part of the same problem.

The people that instigated this mob mentality debate aren't to be talked about 'cos we're on a witch hunt and our target is.......... ill/disabled people with large families.

Instead of the £13tn: hoard hidden from taxman by global elite that has been and continues to be robbed from all of us across the globe.

Now relatively speaking these problem families with 1,2,3,<pick a number> too many kids only affect so small an area you'd need a superfine needle to prick it on an atlas.

Not to mention that nothing but evolution is to blame for them having so many kids.

Yet others can cause problems on a global scale, we'll overlook that, we'll not discuss it because they can afford as many kids as they like.

Stinks of Marmite if you ask me.

Like the clowns we saw in the kiddies disco last night here in Skeggy. You can tell they were occupational dole wallers calling the kids little Flying barstools top of the voices. Mom and dad getting smashed on Newcastle browns while the 4 kids sit and watch and get bought nothing, not even a glass of water.
