St. Patrick's Day riots in Ontario

Recommended Posts

Ladies and gentlemen, what you are seeing is a total disregard for the things St. Patrick's Day stand for. All this drinking, violence, destruction of property. Are these the things we think of when we think of the Irish?

Riots in Ontario

I believe that children are our future. Unless we stop them now.

"The authorities estimated that the damage would cost $100,000 (£65,000) to repair."

That's the cost of their riots (plural) ? Sounds like they got off fairly lightly.

totally unexpectedly, the Canadians are emerging as the naughty boys of the western hemisphere. Suddenly, it seems any excuse for a riot, and they're up for it. This follows the

violent Vancouver football riots in June.

I suppose they're just seizing their chance to shed their previously saintly image and aquire the disreputable past commensurate with being a nation state of such vast size.

Different tack, but apparently Nike launched a new Dunk Low sneaker just before St Patrick's Day, and in honour of Guiness named it 'Black and Tan'. As one Irish-American put it, "It's like calling a shoe al Quieda". Nike have now apologised.

Its a boring country - they have got to do something. Having said that, they have a good few problems with motor bike gangs - Hells Angels etc. :suspect:

I think we outdid them last August. Let's see how they get on at the Olympic Riot Event this summer if their team's not banged up.
