The other is ironing on top of newspaper. Sorry, still a bit dazed from my electric shock. tessashark
The traditional way is to put a brown paper bag over it and iron it - this kind of worked when I spilt it on my carpet a few years ago - maybe not the most practicaal solution for everywhere, and also who's got brown paper bags anymore? martss
Lighter fluid might work.

Daven
I agree with the brown paper and iron route it does work i used it on my carpet . You can also try kitchen roll and run a non steam iron over it - it worked on my carpet but be careful not to have it too hot for any manmade fibres. Keep going over the same bit but moving the kitchen roll as it soaks up the melting wax Try to pick off any big lumps first. You will need time and patience but it does work. Good luck! small_hall
another vote for brown paper & an iron.. i have used it for getting wax off the carpet as well. You could also use loads of kitchen roll as well ..but use a few sheets other wise it won't work
hard2miss
Stick a big piece of bubbly over it, pull it off after 3 days.

Grissom
I seem to recall that, for smaller items, there is some trick involving sticking the items in the Freezer, or is that for chewing gum ?? Putting the kids in the freezer won't fix the current issue but will certainly prevent it from happening again My photos on flickr
