Gatecrasher announce plans to build new Sheffield venue!!

It's now April 2008, and the owner of the club said that they'd be rebuilding it as soon as possible. I've noticed that there has been fencing around the area for quite some time now, But does anyone have or know any information about it being built again or whether it's going to be somewhere else???

 

Sheffield nightlife is lost without it !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I worked on the site when it was a Engineering Factory called ' Roper & Wreakes '. Harry Bottom was the owner then. He was said to be tight with his money but personally I think,' selective ', but very generous in his charity giving.

 

I understood that he had a daughter who had died at a early age. ( In her teens ).

Did anyone else know Harry? I think that he lived at 3 or 4 Hoober Road off Ecclesall Road, South. Sheffield but he started life down St Phillips Road in a Back to Back House.

So he certainly worked hard most of his life.

Yes Gatecrasher are working at a new design of building for the same space. It will have a new club in the basement, retail on the ground floor and apartments upstairs.

I am still amazed that anyone would want to live in a building with a busy nightclub downstairs. If they manage to insulate the sound, people queueing and misbehaving when exiting in the small hours would be extremely disturbing.
