  1. Dempseys still has karaoke on a weds it has for about ten years! £2.50 still isn't cheap I pay that for a pint in my favorite gay pub in London! and the courtyard pubs in leeds - its a £1 a pint during the day and they have magners on draught On canal street is a busy bar that does £6 bottles of NICE wine all day and night.
  2. well done... what does BGT mean? Are you going to do another quiz?
  3. http://www.vas.org.uk/ good for any volunteering roles
  4. I have made a name that tune playlist on youtube. The first person to guess all five correct... wins a prize and should do another quiz! (the prize is a bottle of home-made-wine)
  5. What??? Before I turned 25 (so I didn't get tax credits) I worked full time on minimum wage paid my bills my rent my council tax put £25 a week in the bank, to save for holidays or emergencies and had about £25 per week spending money, that includes food I was walking distance from work, if I had needed to catch the bus, that would have left me with less than a tenner spending money, including food money, per week - I wouldn't have had any savings. so tell me, what is wrong with minimum wage?
  6. As much as I love love love, private transport companies, who take more in subsidies than national transport ever cost... I think this thread is a bloody farce every year you see less and less change out of a tenner from a day saver, so I need to use a banknote unless I was planning on teleporting home, because they don't do return tickets anymore, because that might cost less than an hours wages to get from A to B
  7. we should make a fish and chip map of sheffield I've never been to mosborough, so thats one I have missed
  8. How do they manage to stay so cheap at the courtyard in leeds? yes your maths and ideas are probably not too far wrong, but what I'm saying is they need a new business model. Dempseys, don't have to change because they are so popular, but Lions and Affinity ought to. Most people go out to wetherspoons, or yates, or the brown bear, or drink a couple of bottles of wine at home before going to dempseys, or affinity, or Lions. If Affinity and Lions had a drinks offer (maybe from lunchtime to ten PM) that could compete, those people would be spending their money in there, the places would be more busy, and if they were more busy, more people would want to be there. gay bars in Sheffield are empty most of the time whilst the other pubs are taking a steady trade... from GAYS! btw: sam smiths are cheap because they brew their own beer - maybe lions could do that, they have a great venue, and they could attract the real ale crowd, plus if they stocked a good variety of nice wines, that could also pull in a few people who wouldn't normally go out on the 'scene' as it is. if corp and leadmill were selling illegal alcohol I am sure that it would be all over the news.
  9. OK whilst the sentiment is close to the truth, the statement is awful. There is..., please say there 'are' no jobs even better you could say, 'there aren't any jobs' this would still be untrue though there aren't enough jobs There you would have hit the nail on the head. There aren't enough jobs. But that is not a problem just found in Sheffield. If you really want a job, your best prospects are emigrating to a country where there is a shortage of workers. houses, I'm not going to bother analyzing it. There aren't enough houses I would disagree, there are too many houses I think, and not enough flats. Certainly not enough council properties. Sheffield has the highest council waiting list in the country. plus it is full of student houses where six people are crammed into what used to be a two bed terrace, and also for some mad reason - hundreds of trendy £800 per month flats empty and to let. It's (is a shortening of it is) so requires an apostrophe. Full of Drugys do you mean druggies? people who take drugs? Yes, but no more or less than any other city. Its full of drunks Again I don't think it is any more or less than any other city. If you don't have a job, a house, and a circle of friends yet... PM me!
  10. If you are under 30 in Sheffield and have a job you are part of a shrinking minority. (If that's one job, for an employer which pays your whole income you might as well be chicken teeth) Most of my friends who work, have gone self employed, or are working in two or three part time jobs, only a handful are employed in one single job full time. But I think the advice I have read is spot on,
  11. try supermarkets, lidl usually have loads.
  12. Charles Clifford Hospital is always free, because it is a teaching hospital. Everywhere else you have to pay, but if it means a return bus journey, it could work out only saving you a couple of quid, from your local NHS dentist.
  13. If you mean bombed during the 2nd world war, Sheffield Was bombed repeatedly during the second world war because of the steel and coal.
  14. Top ten Chippies in Sheffield 1. The one inside Castle Market 2. Manor Top 3. Brenda's behind the moor 4. The new one on the corner of west street and division street 5 Adams (on commercial street, near ponds forge) 6 - 10 dont exist Have tried loads, but most of them are overpriced, and only any good for filling your belly up when you are starving. If you need to put ketchup on them then they aren't good chips!
  15. What Sheffield Gay Scene needs is a place that sells drinks that are cheap and tasty, plays a variety of music, and doesn't have snotty staff. if wetherspoons, corp, the leadmill, yates, and Sam Smiths' pubs can do it, why don't gay bars? if they did, they would be more busy, and make more money altogether surely?
  16. yates does £1 a pint on thursday nights and other promotions
  17. I can think of one that does cracking karaoke on a Monday weds and Friday bottom of the moor you ever been in?
  18. Oh and our largest physical exports are oil and gas, pharmaceuticals, and motor vehicles and parts. and no bugger in the rest of the world wants those... It makes you wonder how in the world someone in his position of power could make such ignorant statements... especially when we make most of their high tech weaponry, such as cruise missiles, and fighter jets.
  19. Britain is the second largest exporter of services in the world, Britain is the largest offshore producer of oil and gas in the world. Britain has the largest merchant fleet in the world. America has five times the population of Britain, but if Britain's economy or military were five times larger they would be bigger than that of America. We are but a poor island nation, who nobody envies.
  20. You can get tattoos in all-sorts of colours, but if darker skin has more pigment is it more difficult to dye? Would bleaching the area beforehand make for a better result, like you have to do with dark hair in order to dye it? You could use skin bleach with stencils to create tattoo backgrounds which are coloured later in layers with different inks, maybe set up a whole new business model. I don't really like tattoos though... someone who already has a tattoo shop can nick my idea if they want it.
  21. We agree Why not replace 'gay' with something that is really rubbish... that everyone hates... Thats sooo ??? (write your suggestion on a postcard and send it to Wanda Sykes)
  22. BTW This happens to me regularly from Kids and Adults
