  1. I visted the Saffron Club a few weeks back and the service was EXCELLENT!! the food was non greasy and very tasty! Pity it is on West St and not down a side street but regardless I was impressed.....the service did it for me, oh and the large Cobra special!!
  2. After trying all of the Thai restaurants in Sheffield, my favorites are Thai Punna and Baan Thai. Any others are not as good as these too and that Thai Orchid place at the top of London Road is TERRIBLE, watch out for microwaved rice as I that is what I received when I went to eat there, the food and place is mediocre at it's best!!
  3. Thanks guys for your replies. Tried the Old Vicarage and the service was poor and I had a dodgy tummy the next day so never again!! Plus I have eaten far superior food at Rafters and the like. I have yet to visit Artisan and Marco @ Milano as the reviews vary but I guess I will have to try it and see for myself. The menu at Artisan doesn't really captivate my attention though. I'll avoid Relish as I don't like children making noise and being misbehaved. I have tried Morans for lunch and enjoyed the food. Fischers is the next stop for me!
  4. Thanks for your replies guys. Good to read different perspectives. Okay we have progress!! I have started to make her wait when I put her bowl on the floor and ok' and point and it's working a treat! (excuse the pun) I stand between her and the bowl to try and get her to know it's 'my' food. As soon as she's eaten the bowl gets taken up. I have also started to 'tap' gently but firmly on her nose if she tries to snatch a reward out of my hand and this is working too. Along with some others posters, I read that rubbing her nose in her pee will not achieve anything so I haven't done this, when I say 'get to your bed' in a firm growl tone she knows she's done bad and goes to her bed. When I see her peeing etc...I go extra with the praise, I reward good behaviour, ignore the bad or growl at her as this seems to work with her. I will never ever be aggressive with her, there is simply no need, she knows my 'growl' and when I ignore her and don't make eye contact she hates that more than anything else. So there is no need to do anything with force or aggression, I truly believe you really will have your work cut out if you go down that route as it is not fair. It is quite difficult atm as she is had her second jab done yesterday and as she hasn't been able to burn any energy off by going for a walk I believe this has contributed to the weeing on the floor. However, this morning she did all her business on the garden.....I have never been so proud to see a dog pee before! I know it sounds nuts but I imagine a lot of you guys have felt the same way! So, I am slowly getting there, and she's responding to the 'tap' on the nose when she snatches. She's very good with 'stay' and 'wait' so I think I am making progress! We are going for a walk tomorrow first thing and I cannot wait....that's if she will ever accept the collar lol as that is my other learning task!
  5. Does anyone have any advice on how i stop my dog from being greedy? I feed her quality meals, not just dried food and she is never satisfied, she comes back to me and stares me out for more food! Even when i give her more by mistake! I am not liking how she is being atm, she is very obedient and will learn the usual sit, drop etc....but she's snatching out of my hand when i give her a treat and misbehaving when my partner comes home from work, she will do things (like wee on the floor) that she doesn't do when I am only with her. I am a keen Cesar Millan follower so understand the leadership but I am kind of lost with what to do here! Any help would be greatly appreciated!
  6. Hello forum, Could any of you recommend a restaurant similar (in quality) to Rafters in and around Sheffield? I am looking for a more 'fine dining' restaurant if possible. Thank you!
  7. Re: Is the term "chav" an insult to the poor working class? No, IMO as to be a chav you need to act/dress/talk and have the mindset. The poor working classes could have more about them than the upper classes. Just because someone is poor doesn't mean they are a chav. Now, someone who resembles Vicky Pollard, has lots of kids being badly behaved and spends their days in Primark or Meadowhall eating fast food with a huge belly that they like to wear tight tops over is a chav and I am sure you all know who these types are as Sheffield seems to be overun by them! I hate the infux of them as there seems to be many more nowadays. I see them on the way to work taking 'Courtney' and 'Brittany' to school, which is a waste of time as those types of kids will just end up pregnant at 16 and claim benefits all their lives, just like their chav scroat parents...monkey see, monkey do.
  8. Work hard, play hard and looking after yourself leads to happiness!
  9. Lotti, I have been reading about your training classes and I am interested. I and a friend both have 11week old pups, they are waiting for full vaccinations which will end in a fortnight. I am on the South side of Sheffield and wonder when do the classes start? Where are they? How much are they? and can I join at any time? Thanks
  10. You can't know him that well becuase the reason he's ran off to Thailand is because he owes the taxman millions due to being greedy and not paying his taxes like the rest of us do!
  11. Seems it would be a good idea to cross that courier off for the posting of my ebay items!! Word of mouth is so powerful!
  12. That will never ever happen!! They will go on terrorising people and end up in jail or dead and that is more or less guaranteed!
  13. Dunelm has a large selection of material and is reasonable in price. I picked up some gorgeous thick material from there in the bargain bin and it was enough to cover all 6 of my dining room chairs. Cost about £5 if that.
  14. Can anyone tell me if there are any restaurants in Sheffield that use only organic produce? I am not a veggie so restaurants of all types, and please don't advise the Walnut Club as we all know about that place I've read through an old thread asking similar but it didn't really give any info. Thanks
  15. Avoid All Siam on Ecclesall Road! I went on the weekend and was highly diapppointed. Peas in the red curry? Small portions and gloopy overcooked rice. I was expecting much more, to top it all off, I had to ask the waitress 3 times to remove 4 bottles from our small table, needless to say I won't be going back, as I have had much better food and service at other Thai restaurants!! For Thai food try Thai Punna, London Rd or Baan Thai, both very nice!!
  16. Me too, I would really like a pilates class somewhere around S8 in the evenings. If anyone can recommend a good one?
  17. I gave up refined sugar, wheat, anything processed and alcohol 4 weeks ago. I eat anything that used to walk, fly, swim, or grow and have some amazing tasty meals! However, for the first 4 days I couldn't get the sugar craving out of my head and you are right, it felt like the smoking niggle. I carried on with it and now I don't feel for sugar at all. I think the trick is to think 'If I have some sugar I will be doing my body no good', and try your hardest to forget about the craving. Natural sugars from fruits are okay for you and I found blueberries and raspberries to be a saviour! Also if you are absolutely dying for some kind of sweet sugary thing try Stavia, it is a thousand times more sweet than sugar and is natural, you can buy it in health shops. Try and carry on though as when you have gotten over the first cravings it does become easier, also I can tell now which fruits and veg are very sweet when before I think refined sugar was killing a lot of my taste buds. Also if you eat right then you shouldn't ever feel like snacking. I have a balanced meal of proteins veggies and good fats, all natural foods though and I stick to the rule of if it hasn't lived then don't eat it. I try and choose organic where I can also. This does work as I have lost 1.5 stones and still shrinking, plus my dark circles under my eyes have lightened, I have more energy I am sleeping better and I don't have a horrid taste in my mouth in the mornings. As the above poster said you arn't eating enough there, and if you have fruit your body will give you a hit of sugars straight away, only eat fruit if you have first had some protein or fats like a handful of nuts or a slice of chicken, this will then start digesting and your body will slowly digest the sugar fruit and release it slowly. Also stay away from Iceburg lettuce as it is just green water with hardly any nutrional value at all and no pasta ever, except for wheat free pasta you can buy it in Tesco. Wheat depletes your vitamin B and others vits and minerals so there is no point in eating it. IMO of course, I have only studied nutrition for 2 years: said because I advised someone of here yesterday and some numpty jumped on me saying I was wrong......
  18. The Rite: 2/10 With Anthony Hopkins starring in this I presumed it would be very good, it wasn't! Boring story, far too 'Americanised' and didn't keep me interested.
  19. Thank you for your replies, I will be checking some of those places out! I never thought about the butchers...doh! ;-)
  20. thanks guys, I will try some of the advice given!
  21. Does anyone know of anyone I could buy local eggs from? I live in S8 so ideally from this area would be great. I would like to keep away from supermarkets hence the reason for asking. I also don't find the time to go to the markets.
  22. The only way to lose weight healthily and still eat lots of yummy food is totally cut out sugar, wheat, processed foods and alcohol, for the first fortnight at least do not eat any of them and stay away from sugar forever, have a vodka and soda water but keep away from beer! Beer contains oestrogen so all the men with moobs who drink lots of beer are turning into women!! Once you cut the crap out the weight drops off and I am proof it works, I've gone down 2 dress sizes in a month of just cutting that out. It is hard at the beginning as we are addicted to sugar but get over that and it is easy!! However you stil have to excerise though as no diet will work unless you do some excercise, forget cardio try pilates, it is easier and tones you up very nicely.
  23. Hello Forummers, I am wondering if anyone could help me? I have a tan leather bag that I have accidentally scratched with my finger nail. Could anyone advise how to get the scratch out? Thank you in advance Oops posted in wrong place!! Sorry
  24. Sleuth 8/10 Jude Law, Michael Caine. Good story left me wondering throughout where it was going and what was going to happen. I liked this, but then I do lurve Jude Law.
