  1. Thanks guys! Lots of place I see, Heeley Farm isn't that far from me so will probably go there and support them!
  2. Looking for local honey in the South of Sheffield.
  3. Can anyone tell me where there are any game bird shoots that I could join in? Pheasants/partridge etc South Yorks, Humberside, NE Derbys, Lincs. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated
  4. This is an old thread, but I need to FHI Heat straighteners fixed, anyone know where to take them? Tried looking for that shop on abbeydale rd with no joy...
  5. I am sure the dogs wish they didn't belong to scruffy chavs!...... I am all for a dog licence. No licence-no dog. Most scroates wouldn't/couldn't pay for one so they wouldn't be allowed a dog. Therefore the millions of dogs being breed would not be as many and not as many dogs in the pound. Th gov could Make a mint from dog licences and help eradicate problems with dogs but ok they aren't not interested. I have a bull breed and how anyone (some Do say what they think also!) could think they are all dangerous is beyond me.
  6. I wrote to the council asking for parking permits to be introduced on my road, and was told no. The reason I asked is myself and other neighbours are sick and tired of not being able to park outside or even near our own houses due to a local shop (which has a dusty car park, therefore people won't use it) people just park on our tiny street and are not considerate and don't park with any thought meaning no one else can park. Cars are often hit and left with damage, I can't even count up how many times my neighbours has been left with damage on it (he regularly leaves his stood for months whilst away) and Not once has anyone admitted they've bumped it. A older man sat in his car once watched me struggle with shopping bags and when I politely said would you be able to move your car down there a bit so I can get in and get my shopping out, he said 'p*** off I pay my road tax I'll park where I like'....so much for elderly people having manners. Not being able to park near your house let alone with reasonable distance is a real pain and I'd be all for paying for a permit so I could park!
  7. I had this problem but I was the dog owning neighbour. I had a shared garden (yard) with the next house. My dog who I got from a puppy didn't know she should only crap on my side of the yard and as much as I kept putting her back onto my side she just sees the yard as her territory. My neighbour had a full blown go at me one day about sick of seeing my dog taking a pee on his garden. I sympathised and explained I had tried and advised him to put a fence up. (considering he didn't live in the house for around 10 months of the year, I didn't see the bother). I picked up the crap as soon as she had done one and washed it down with some water, once a week I'd use Jyes to get rid of any smell/germs etc. I always swept and kept both our gardens tidy, pruned weeds etc...as he wasn't there much. I can sympathise it is annoying etc....and I doubt it would bother you if the losers you live next door to actually picked the crap up. Maybe just say 'I know it's hard to keep your dog off mine, but can you pick the poo up immediately as it is a health hazard'. If they say no, just shovel it every day into a pile on their garden or report it. The house at the back of me, their cat took a crap in my raised flower beds all the time, I used to just shovel it up and lob it back over the wall onto their garden.
  8. Getting left behind? It's got left behind for years! It's a TownCity.
  9. I once told my single mate that it was singles night on a friday at Tesco, all you had to do was wonder about with an empty shopping basket and smile at women. He actually went and said all the women were rude as they didn't speak hahaha! ---------- Post added 18-02-2014 at 16:02 ---------- I agree, I used to think I was the only one that didn't see that sign at the door saying 'please leave your manners here'.
  10. I remember NY Sushi being held there. Fab times! Also remember how many bruises I got from snowboard falls on those slopes too! ---------- Post added 18-02-2014 at 15:57 ---------- haha ignore that twit, he'll just be jealous that he wouldn't be able to snowboard even if he tried to!
  11. Does anyone know of a Christmas day walk meet anywhere in Sheffield, pref the South/West side that my dog will be welcome to join.
  12. My secret for getting my dog to never go further than my eyes in the woods is to play hide and seek from an early age, might sound a tad cruel (says some of my friends who have unruly dogs) but it worked for me!. My dog rarely goes out of eye shot and if she ever was to, i'd hide behind a tree and she'd panic till she found me. Makes them keep their eyes on you 247. My dog will stop mid run if I shout her name. She realises it's easier and she'll be rewarded, to do what I say than not listen. I believe from my own experience of having a pup who is now nearly 3yrs old, that the more time you invest in training them, the quicker they learn. You can't expect miracles but once they 'get' you are pleased, they want to please you more and more.
  13. Dog share is great idea, I was looking for one before I got my pup a few years back. Had I known about http://www.borrowmydoggy.com, but then I wouldn't have the joy of having my own dog! Happy to read he has a new home!
  14. Does anyone know of a Christmas day dog walk meet anywhere in Sheffield, pref the South/West side? I am on my own this year so would be nice to meet fellow dog lovers for a festive trek and my dog would adore it!
  15. Thanks guys and gals! Your input has been very helpful! Well as it happens, I found lots of 'made in Italy' items like handmade pasta and whatnot in both Lidl and B&M! now just for the deli's etc.... Re: the newspaper out of date, I plan to buy it a few days before xmas so it won't be that out of date....it's more for someone who is fluent in Italian (but not Italian) to sit and read rather than catch up on daily news. If that makes any sense!.....my search is on! Buono!
  16. Please only buy xmas tree's that can be planted back in the ground once you have used them. It makes me sick to think people have a cut tree in the house then just throw it out after they have used it!
  17. I am looking for all things Italian for a xmas hamper. Does anyone know of anywhere in Sheffield that I could buy authentic 'Made in Italy' goods such as newspapers and food/cakes etc.... Thank you!
  18. I've got a staffy and she is docile. It really is the owner who makes the dog how it is. If you don't train a dog right it'l forever try and be the pack leader. I only have to glare at my dog and she lays down and submits. I've had more problems from small dogs like Pugs and Chihuahua's coming upto my dog (yes and when mine is on a lead too!) ready for a fight than the bigger dogs. Waits for the 'it's an evil dog' posts to follow.............
  19. I live near to there and the road I live on has so much dog poo on it, Graves Park entrance always has it on the paths. I am a dog owner and I am responsible. No one cares nowadays though that's the problem!
  20. I cannot forget this happened after reading the heart wrenching story (selfishly i wished I had never read about it). I own a staffy and to do this to an animal in general is utter evil and shows how mentally unstable, weak and evil the person is to do this. If they can do that to an animal and hear the sounds it would have made in that kind of pain then I have no doubt they could easily kill a human. He needs putting in a mental hospital forever not jail as if he had done that to a human he may have been. I am utterly disgusted!
  21. Hello Thanks for the advice, I have found some nice natural products so been ordering! and thanks to the member for the link, i'll contact your friend and have a look at the products. I have been using pure coconut oil for my face and body ( a tiny bit goes a long way!) and this has been fantastic stuff! I use a pure organic shampoo and a teeny pea sized amount of conditioner on my hair, followed by a slight rub through of coco oil: no dryness or frizz, so this leads me to believe that my hair problems were caused by using salon and high street shampoo and conditioners (some i paid £20 a bottle for!!! ) no wonder my dry hair never went away, it was all the chemicals in the products I was using that was making it like that.
  22. I really hope she finds her pup. How sad that you cannot let your puppy out onto the garden without some scumbucket stealing it!
  23. Thanks again Sarah, I have been having a look at the sites you listed and found the ingredients are easily available and very cheap! Thanks, I had a look at a moisturiser on that site and here's what I found hiding in it: aqua, propylene glycol, paraffinum liquidum, stearic acid, cetyl alcohol, glyceryl stearate, sesamum indicum (sesame oil), oenothera biennis (evening primrose oil), triethanolamine, octyl dimethyl paba (sun filter), persea gratissima (avocado oil), imidazolidinyl urea, carbomer, retinyl palmitate (vitamin A), pelargonium capitatum (rose geranium oil), daucus carota (carrot oil), methylparaben, propylparaben, sodium stearate, BHA, citric acid, propyl gallate, geraniol, linalool, citronellol, limonene. A few nasties there! This 100% natural lark isn't quite as easy as i thought, so many companies are saying 'includes pure this and that' then when you delve into the actual ingredients list you find the above usually worse! I think what I might do is just order some coconut oil/butter etc... and use that for moisterising and conditioner etc.... I was shocked to see a product in boots a few weeks ago that said 'this will treat dry sensitive skin, for adults and babies, pure and natural'.....on the back of the packet it stated in small letters 'Some of the ingredients may irritate skin' and when looking at the ingredients I could see why...... so the front stated it cured your skin and the back said it may irriate it....unbelievable!
  24. Thank you for all the replies and advice! I live in S8 and hoping to find someone to have my dog at their house. I am making a list of contacts now and trying to visit. My dog is 10 months old (she will be 1 in March) she is a Staffordshire and is as soft as a teddy!! I would say she is medium and hasn't yet packed out with muscles, she still has a 'puppy head' which is very velvety! She loves cuddles, long walks fetching sticks and whatnot and general playing about. I keep her under quite a lot of control in the house and have regular play. When out for walk, she happily beside me and is very obedient, I wouldn't allow her to pull if she tried. At night I never hear a peep from her providing, obviously, she has been out for the loo before she goes to bed. I have never heard her snarl, growl or show any kind of aggression as she is just not like that, I can truly say she is a star! Regarding kennels, some people I speak to despise them, some like them and find their dog seems happy to stay in them. Personally, I'd like my dog to be able to have someone around the majority of the time as she likes human contact and I wouldn't like the thought of her spending hours alone in a cage with other dogs barking etc....I just don't feel right about it.
