  1. Also, why don't they seem to take into account that such changes, and their statement as to why, could offend Christians? Who is it who decides who is offended by what? And who get's preferential treatment when deciding? Is there anyone reading who is from a non Christian religion who could say they were the slightest bit offended by AD/BC?
  2. Well, Tony, If the BBC had said that they were doing this to fit with the modern world then it would not be so ridiculous. They have told us their reasons apparently......and how they got to this decision I have no idea. What's next? Do we give dates in alternative calendars too?? Do we renumber the years to avoid having any reference to a Christ?? The years are numbered as they are for a reason(yes I know it's dubious too, but hey that's how they are), so why not use the AD and BC? It's ridiculous. Out of interest, does anyone know what the National Curriculum says on this? As if that's still AD and BC it's just going to confuse the kids.
  3. Yep, this is the kind of thing we need to see much, much more of.
  4. It's not. Speed equals distance over time. Time itself is a separate, erm, thing.
  5. I have heard, and read into time dilation, but was not aware that time came to a complete stop at the speed of light. So by this, would it be true if you COULD ride a wave of light you would notice NO difference between any different distance? So a beam of light would feel(if it could, I know)it was travelling instantly, whether it was from the light bulb on the ceiling or the furthest star?
  6. Maybe people have been back in time, but were really careful not to affect the future. Like Marty McFly.
  7. No, it's not. But it wasn't prior to May 2010 either. Labour showed they were fantastic at lies, overspending, secret agendas, and worse. Let's at least give this lot a chance. It's hard times alright. But it would be a lot better if people came up with ideas to make things better, for example where to get the money from to avoid cuts, than sat bitching just because you don't agree with what the party did years ago. Or because your feel you're too working class to be Tory.
  8. Love it! Used it for 10 years and never had any problems. Has the OP had problems? Or just cautious?
  9. You know what, you're probably right. On the day Cameron became PM I added a comment to Facebook stating how glad I was Labour had gone. It got me quite a bit of stick, but on questioning the reasons why people thought otherwise, I didn't get a more valid answer than "Tories are toffs", or "we're working class we vote Labour." Hmmm.
  10. The current government could improve, but really who would want to go back to that bunch of let downs in Labour. I don't know how people could ever trust that party again.
  11. Aha! So they're basically saying that as Albert said that going back in time was impossible, if he was wrong about the speed issue he COULD be wrong about that too. Fair enough. Thanks man.
  12. As far as I am aware time slows down for objects travelling at ridiculous speeds........but never thought there was any possibility of time going BACKWARDS. But a couple of news reports have also suggested time travel backwards could be possible due to this find? Anyone know anything about this??
  13. It's more like 30%. Nice to see you're a real person by the way and not a one line wonder.
  14. I know, it's difficult. Dispersal may well not be feasible, and I agree they should be able to choose where they live. I certainly don't want to use this valid thread as a staging post for yet another debate about immigration, but the fact of the matter is that many new inhabitants of an area will stretch the services which were set up for lower numbers and different demographics. People are probably going to be thinking to themselves, "why here" and so on and that. I just think that there is no need to be overly offended or think that objections should be dismissed straight away. All objections and ideas should be heard. It might be that in the end they work out a way to fund care homes and further medical centres for the old fellas there. I can assure you if the Gurkha chaps there did fall foul of getting some racial abuse by the locals I would be right behind you in calling it a disgrace, but don't think this is the case here. Apart from the guy who said he didn't like them in the park.
  15. I think the Gurkhas certainly have a claim to live here, and we owe them many thanks for what they have done under the Union Jack. There may well be some practical issues in that area, with a high concentration of elderly people arising. There will be visible problems with healthcare and other services. Whilst offence may have been taken, I think it may well be wise for this to be discussed with possible solutions suggested? No point shying away from problems just because someone might take offence to it, because the problem will just get worse. The comments about the park however were pretty dumb.
  16. I believe there is a limit of how many boxes you can run off a dish.....so they would need to keep with in this. If they are part of a family or whatever with a few houses they could get quite a few. We can be 100% sure there is something not "right" here. As Sky don't need resellers like this to sell their product cheaper. It just doesn't fit. It might work, but it's a gamble for sure.
  17. Keep us posted! The more I think about it, the more I think they may have somehow got some Sky half price deals for friends/family/and returning customers and are going to pocket the £10 ish difference every month. The card will no doubt be registered to another address. Does anyone know if it could actually be a multiroom subscription that they pay a £10 a month for???? Now this is assuming it's not a scam, and even if it's not then many problems could arise. Sky could get wind and pull the plug, or the seller could stop paying the bills their end!!!
  18. I think it's too good to be true AND a scam! I thought it could be someone who had got a free or half price deal who will pay the lower amount and send you the card. But it's a lot of messing about and very high risk for them to do it, so don't even consider it.
  19. There's a lot of people who still love Labour you know! I really can't think for the life of me why.
  20. Thing is, she wasn't saying we should add token coloured people to the stories. She was saying we shouldn't put the stories to film!! Gobsmacking. She was sat next to Nick Griffin on QT I remember. She has obviously got quite the racial agenda herself.
  21. It was Bonnie not Jermaine!! I am rather embarrassed now and I will get my coat
  22. I couldn't believe what I heard tonight. On the paper review on Sky News they showed an article about a rise in period drama on the BBC. Now, one of the reviewers was Bonnie Greer. She actually said that this was not a good thing because it omitted black people from starring in the shows. I thought she was saying this tongue in cheek, but after she continued to say that the BBC should be careful as they have a responsibility to represent all races, I actually laughed out loud. She was deadly serious. The BBC do this! In almost all contemporary shows and news etc. How on earth could she expect them not to make shows based in a historic England just because they can't employ black actors in them? Isn't this lady respected in many circles? Could anyone on here say that she had any justification in what she said? It was one of the most bizarre things I have ever heard someone say in seriousness. I hope this gets in the press and on YouTube because I am sure most people who didn't see it will think I made this up!
  23. I think the more we discuss it the more it seems like humanity really is heading up a certain creek without a paddle, and probably taking the planet with it if we keep on behaving as we are doing across the world. Which leads me back to the original point, why does it seem this is not being addressed at all? Do we live in a society that always thinks of the situation RIGHT NOW, rather than thinking ahead to the future. Even if it's a future where were are more than likely gone, but our descendants have to deal with it?
  24. You're not wrong man, and it will be people who are alive today who will be in the history books as either "doing nothing", or causing it directly. Another interesting fact I saw was that 6% of all the humans in the history of humanity are alive today!!! That makes you think!
  25. No it made perfect sense, and not something I had considered to be honest.
