  1. Hmmm! Euan Kerr used to edit The Beano though.
  2. Last night's was a 'perigee' moon, and the closest it will get to Earth this year. Mars was also pretty close to us last night as well.
  3. If you've got the heating on, but the house isn't warm, then the heat is escaping somewhere. Do you have double glazing? Is your roof insulated? If you have cavity walls, are they insulated? Have a word with the people at South Yorkshire Energy Centre, they will be able to offer good advice.
  4. And the traffic cameras are showing private vehicles using the (a bit slushy looking) roads. I feel very sorry for all the workers who'll have to walk all the way home tonight after the bus services were withdrawn. Even getting part of the way home would be better than having no buses running at all.

  6. DOCUMENTARY: Keeping Tradition Alive At Christmas On: BBC Radio Two (702) Date: Monday 21st December 2009 Time: 22:00 to 22:30 (30 minutes long) BBC Radio 2 goes on a journey to celebrate local voices and different carolling traditions around England and Wales. Across the country, pockets of people have been keeping alive Christmas traditions that were lost to most hundreds of years ago. This Christmas, they invite listeners to step into their homes, pubs and churches to share their festive sounds. In the month before Christmas the village pubs of small towns around Sheffield are packed with the merrymaking of enthusiastic singers. Sheffield-born folk singer Kate Rusby invites listeners to eavesdrop on a centuries-old tradition of secular Christmas carols, songs and lyrics that locals - including multiple Radio 2 Folk Award-winner Eliza Carthy - fiercely claim as their own. The other presenters in this four-part series are Billy Bragg, who explores West Country festive traditions; Julie Fowlis, who hears some Welsh Plygain singers; and Bellowhead's Jon Boden, who lends his voice to a good old knees-up in Leigh-on-Sea. 7. I'd like to thank the chaps who gave me a hand pushing Mr Maggi's van off the road. I my neighbours.
  8. We didn't tell you anything of the sort and, anyway, we weren't open on Wednesday.
  9. For the avoidance of doubt, I'd just like to make it very clear that I don't know anything about the so-called 'secret venue' in Sheffield. Thanks.
  10. Many congratulations, rubydazzler! As Mr. Coffee suggests, the local media should do some supportive stuff for you. How about customized paper bags/shopping bags with a silver theme for the anniversary period? Is there a particular day you could use for a promotional event?
  11. The vanilla cheesecake from The Bohemian is yummy.
  12. Tom Watson MP has started Gamers' Voice on Facebook.
  13. This is probably the soundest advice I've ever received Apart from 'never buy anything beige', obviously.
  14. This is quite a good reason to join groups which may not reflect your true attitude towards the subject. Persuading people to examine their arguments/playing devil's advocate etc. are useful techniques. The other good reason is just to take the mickey.
  15. Building stuff in the park means more buildings, less park. Hope this helps.
  16. Ken, who died suddenly in 2008, was one of the most inspiring, hilarious and mind-expanding figures in British theatre and his work from the 1970s on has influenced a whole generation of performers and creators. The event will look back over Ken's incredible career with guests, theatre critic Michael Coveney and the film-maker Sheridan Thayer and over three hours of film, much of it unseen in public for over 25 years. Tickets are £10 (£6.50 concessions) from The Showroom.
